Embodiments relate generally to systems and methods for filtering unwanted wavelengths from an IR detector. In some embodiments, it may be desired to remove or reduce the wavelengths absorbed by water, to reduce the effects of water on the detection of the target gas. In some embodiments, a filter glass may be used in the IR detector, wherein the filter glass comprises one or more materials that contain hydroxyls in their molecular structure, and wherein the spectral absorption properties of the filter glass are operable to at least reduce wavelengths of light absorbed by water from the optical, thereby reducing the IR detector's cross sensitivity to water.

A non-dispersive photoacoustic gas detector includes an infrared light source, a first closed chamber, a first acoustic sensor in fluid communication with the first closed chamber, a second closed chamber, and a second acoustic sensor in fluid communication with the second closed chamber. The first closed chamber comprises a plurality of windows that are substantially transparent to infrared light from the infrared light source. The second closed chamber comprises at least one window that is substantially transparent to infrared light from the infrared light source, and the first closed chamber is arranged in series with the second closed chamber between the infrared light source and the second closed chamber.

Devices, methods, and systems for cavity-enhanced spectroscopy are described herein. One system includes an optical frequency comb (OFC) coupled to a laser source, and a cavity coupled to the OFC comprising a number of mirrors, wherein at least one of the number of mirrors is coupled to a piezo-transducer configured to alter a position of the at least one of the number of mirrors.

Devices, methods, and systems for cavity-enhanced spectroscopy

One system includes a laser source configured to emit a single-spectral light, and an optical frequency comb (OFC) coupled to the laser source and configured to generate, using the single-spectral light, a multi-spectral light to determine an absorption spectrum of a substance.

A system for detecting a flame. The system may discriminate between a detected hot object and flame. The system may be a camera-like structure incorporating an infrared sensor, a lens, and an element that could filter out some of the long-wave infrared radiation. The sensor may receive radiation of a scene which forms images on the sensor. The images may be provided to a processor that incorporates one or more modules to determine whether a flame is present in the scene.

An tunable optical frequency comb source includes a linear waveguide having an input leg to couple to a pump laser. A ring microresonator is evanescently coupled to the linear waveguide. The microresonator includes a ring shaped waveguide having a core material with a nonlinear refractive index to provide four-wave mixing to generate a cascade of independent laser beams at frequencies corresponding to the longitudinal modes of the microresonator.

Tunable multispectral laser source

A spectrometer system for providing information about a target with terahertz radiation. The system may receive incident radiation from the target through fore optics, a slit aperture, secondary optics and a dispersive element which images a slit on an array of terahertz sensitive detectors. The detectors may include uncooled sensors. Each sensor may be connected to its own micro antenna. The array of detectors may be situated proximate to the dispersive element so that radiation from the element may be dispersed according to wavelength to the respective detectors optimally sensitive to the various respective wavelengths. Detector signals indicating the impingement of terahertz radiation may provide information for identifying a material of the target.

Terahertz dispersive spectrometer system

A device for detecting gas concentrations includes a movable coded filter. An optical element is positioned to receive gas filtered light and spectrally separate the gas filtered light. A photo detector is positioned to receive the spectrally separated light through slits in the moveable coded filter to provide an AC signal representative of a selected gas.

This disclosure is generally concerned with optical systems that employ guided-mode grating resonant reflector filters ('GMGRF') to facilitate wavelength and/or polarization selectivity in the optical system. In one example, an optical system is provided that includes first and second tunable detectors. Each of the tunable detectors includes a GMGRF that is tuned to select a corresponding optical wavelength and/or polarization of an optical data channel, such that the optical wavelength and/or polarization associated with the first tunable detector is different from the optical wavelength and/or polarization associated with the second tunable detector. In this way, an array of tunable detectors can be employed to select some or all of the wavelengths and/or polarizations of an optical data signal having a plurality of data channels.

Tunable detector

A sample analyzer cartridge for use at a point of care of a patient such as in a doctor's office, in the home, or elsewhere in the field. By providing a removable and/or disposable cartridge with all of the needed reagents and/or fluids, the sample analyzer can be reliably used outside of the laboratory environment, with little or no specialized training.
