An apparatus includes a cage and a main plug disposed in the cage. The main plug is movable between a main plug closed position and a main plug open position. A seal assembly disposed on the main plug, the seal assembly having a seal that is configured to contact the cage when the main plug is in the main plug closed position, and configured to reduce contact with the cage when a pressure differential across the seal is reduced. The apparatus includes a pressure balancing assembly movable between a closed position, an overtravel position and an open position. The pressure balancing assembly is configured to balance the pressure differential across the seal when in the overtravel and open position.

A flow control system includes a pilot driven valve having a pilot assembly and a main valve assembly; a displacement measurement component coupled to the main valve assembly indicating displacement of the main valve assembly; and a proportional solenoid responsive to a signal from the displacement measurement component that displaces the pilot assembly in proportion to the changes in displacement of the main valve assembly. The valve is controlled by sensing a displacement of the main valve assembly; and modulating the proportional solenoid in response to the displacement of the main valve assembly.

Process fluid actuated pilot operated control valve

Fluid flow regulation may be achieved by a system including a housing, a first flow throttling area, and a second flow throttling area. The housing includes a flow inlet port, a flow outlet port, and a passage between the ports. The first flow throttling area is in the passage, and the second flow throttling area is movably positionable proximate the first flow throttling area to facilitate fluid flow regulation, the second flow throttling area restricting flow more than the first flow throttling area. The second flow throttling area primarily regulates flow when flow is low, and the first flow throttling area primarily regulates flow when flow is high.

Fluid flow regulation

A high flow globe valve with a body defining an interior cavity in communication with a first and second fluid passages. A tubular throttling cage is offset in the cavity away from the second fluid passage and has an open end in communication with the first fluid passage. The throttling cage has flow ports angled towards the second fluid passage and the flow port nearest the second fluid passage is oversized. The throttling cage has flow splitter defined by two adjacent flow ports through the cage opposite the second flow passage. A plug is closely received in the throttling cage and moveable to cover the flow ports thereby restricting flow through the throttling cage.

High capacity globe valve

A guided control valve comprising a vapor recovery area that encourages collapse of vapor bubbles. In a cage-guided valve, a seal comprising inner and outer members reduces flow through a radial clearance between a plug and a cage. The vapor recovery area is positioned below the seal and above a seat interacting with the plug. The vapor recovery area encourages collapse of vapor bubbles to reduce damage to the valve trim.

High rangeability control valve

A valve positioner system that includes one or more unique control methods and devices, including several routines to facilitate the continuous maintenance, calibration and adjustment requirements of the valve. The positioner system may utilize pressure and position feedback signals to monitor the valve. The positioner system may utilize an external controller for various diagnostic and other routines. The positioner system can provide automatic positioning and can operate in a manual operating mode or an automatic operating mode. The positioner system can diagnose the valve while the valve process is running or during a maintenance operation. The positioner system can provide nonlinear control of the valve position. The positioner system can self-tune and self-characterize the valve to assure uniform position control. The positioner system can provide valve control through pressure feedback when a position feedback fails or other diagnosed problems. The positioner system can provide constraints to prevent slope reversal or slope changes in the valve characterization that would produce undesirable valve gain.

Valve positioner system

A control valve includes a valve body with a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet. A valve seat is mounted within the valve body between the inlet and outlet. A valve plug is reciprocally mounted within the valve body to engage the valve seat. A plurality of valve cages are removably mounted on the valve seat and surround the valve plug. The valve cages are mounted to define axial flow galleries. One of the valve cages includes a plurality of apertures and fins that extend radially into a gallery between the first cage and a second cage. The second valve cage is adjacent to and surrounds the first valve cage. The second valve cage includes a plurality of apertures and fins that extend into the gallery area between the second cage and a third cage. The third cage surrounds and is adjacent the second cage. A plurality of apertures are defined in an upper portion of the third cage member. The first, second and third cage members may be positioned such that the apertures in each cage member are out of alignment to define a tortuous path along which fluid must flow between the cage members.
