An improved overcoat layer for an organic photoconductor drum of an electrophotographic image forming device is provided. The overcoat layer is prepared from a curable composition including a triphenylamine charge transport containing two ethyl acrylate functional groups and a urethane resin containing six radical polymerizable functional groups. The amount of the triphenylamine charge transport containing two ethyl acrylate functional groups in the curable composition is about 20 to about 80 percent by weight. The amount of the urethane resin containing six radical polymerizable functional groups in the curable composition is about 20 to about 80 percent by weight. This overcoat layer improves wear resistance of the organic photoconductor drum without negatively altering the electrophotographic properties, thus protecting the organic photoconductor drum from damage and ultimately providing a photoconductor with a longer useful life when compared to other organic photoconductors commercially available.

Embodiments of a photoconductor for use in a printer or printer cartridge comprise an electrically conductive substrate, a charge generation layer disposed over the electrically conductive substrate, and a charge transport layer disposed over the charge generation layer, wherein the charge transport layer comprises charge transport molecules with octyl/decyl glycidyl ether (OGE) or dodecyl/tetradecyl glycidyl ether (DGE), or combinations thereof, added to improve resistance to crazing, cracking and crystallization in the change transport layer.

Control of crazing, cracking or crystallization of a charge transport layer in a photoconductor

A charge transport composition is provided including a cyclo-aliphatic ether compound. One purpose of the cyclo-aliphatic ether compound is to improve the resistance to crazing, crystallization and etching of the charge transport layer. The charge transport composition may be coated along with a charge generation composition onto a conductive substrate to form a photoconductor. The charge transport composition may therefore be employed in a photoconductor located in a printer or a printer cartridge.
