Power transmission chains () which are suitable for automotive uses as well as other uses and which have a reduced susceptibility to wear and corrosion, in which such chains () are constructed to include a plurality of sets () of links () joined at overlapped ends () thereof by a pivot () including at least one ceramic joint component (), such as a pivot means (). Such chains () also include means () to drivingly engage sprocket teeth () of a sprocket drive ().

Power transmission chain with ceramic joint components

A flexible power transmission means comprising an assembly of a chain constructed of a plurality of sets of interleaved links joined to its next adjacent set by a pin, and load blocks surrounding the chain and located between the next adjacent pins. Additional load blocks may be located over the pins. The load blocks are generally contoured at their edges to fit into the V of a pulley. When the load blocks are close together, the front and rear surface of at least some of the load blocks are tapered to permit articulation of the assembly. The load is carried by the chain's pins; the blocks are located longitudinally by the pins.

Metal chain belt

An expansible mandrel constructed to radially expand equally comprising a generally truncated polyhedron-shaped core member and a plurality of wedge members defining a cylinder, the core member being axially movable relative to the wedge members. Elastic means surrounding the wedge members maintain the wedge members in position relative to the core member.
