Damage to a linkage in a truck loading mechanism including a tilt link, a secondary link and a dump link is avoided by providing interlocking tabs where one of the tabs is slidably and pivotally mounted to the dump link and normally held in an operative position by means of a frangible element that breaks before damage can occur when excessive forces exist between the links.

Linkage for on-off loading and dumping of a dumpster on a truck frame

Damage to a hook lift type of container handling system caused by torsional loading of a jib slidable within a tube or the like pivotably mounted on a frame carried by a vehicle is minimized by providing a secondary frame that is pivoted to the vehicle and which is made up of two spaced, parallel, tubular structures and a jib made up of two, parallel tube like structures telescopically, slidably received in the tube like structures of the second frame. The jib includes an upstanding hook and by reason of the spacing between the two tubes of both the jib and the secondary frame, a high resistance to torsional loading is provided, thereby eliminating damage as a result of torsional forces.

Container handling system for a vehicle

A container carriage has an elongated skid 30 with an upstanding arm 76 at a forward end thereof, the arm 76 being releasably engageable with a loader 32 mounted on the frame of a container hauling truck 36. A pair of laterally spaced legs 80,82 formed on the skid adjustably mount a pair of arm attachments 102 to engage and carry a conventional front loading container 52. Alternatively, hook attachments 118 are adjustably mounted on the legs 80,82 to engage and carry a conventional rear loading container 62. Movement of the loader 32 between an on-off loading position and a transport position results in the carriage being drawn across the end of the truck 36 and positioned in overlying relation with the truck frame 34.

Device for lifting a container

Failure difficulties due to high stress conditions in truck loading mechanisms are avoided in a construction including a tilt link (44) pivoted to a secondary link (46) which extends under and up the front of the dumpster (20) located on a truck. A dump link (50) is located under the dumpster (20) and is pivoted to the truck frame (14). A first extendable motor (82) is provided for tilting the secondary link (46) relative to the truck frame (14) and a second extendable motor (74) is provided for pivoting the tilt link (44) relative to the secondary link (46). The tilt link (44) has a tab (106) underlying a tab (94) on the dump link (50) so that when the tabs (94, 106) are engaged, the entire linkage (16) may be operated in a dump mode and when the tabs (94, 106) are disengaged, the secondary link (46) and the tilt link (44) may be moved in an on or off loading mode.

An accessory for attachment to the front end of a vehicle for mounting engine driven components 84, 86 to the vehicle including a frame extension and mounting platform 42 having a front end 48 and a rear end 50, apertures 60 for use in mounting the frame extension and mounting platform 42 to a vehicle frame 10, 12, additional apertures 52 at the front end 48 for use in securing a vehicle bumper 40 to the frame extension and mounting platform 42, still further apertures 92 for use in mounting at least one engine driven component 84, 86 to the frame extension and mounting platform 42, a transfer shaft 66 having an axis directed generally from front to rear of the frame extension and mounting platform 42, bearings 68 on the frame extension and mounting platform for journaling the transfer shaft 68, a transfer pulley 70 mounted on the transfer shaft 66 near the rear end 50 and adapted to be connected by a belt 72 to an engine 24 to be driven thereby, a further pulley 74 on the transfer shaft 66 for connection by belts 76, 78 to the input for engine driven components 84, 86 and a biasing device including an idler pulley 106 in alignment with the transfer pulley 70 for providing a biasing force to a belt 72 to thereby accommodate relative movement between a resiliently mounted engine 24 and the rigidly mounted frame extension and mounting platform 42.

Accessory for mounting an engine driven component to a vehicle frame

The difficulty in loading a load carrying body (26) onto or removing it from an elevated surface (48) with a standard hydraulic loader arm (30) is avoided through the use of a lifting frame (70) adapted to be mounted to the bed (20) or frame (10) of a vehicle. Pivots (80) mount the frame (70) to the vehicle adjacent one end of the bed (20) and a pair of spaced rollers (42) are journaled on the frame (70). Cylinders (100) selectively move the frame (70) about the pivots (80) between upper and lower positions respectively above and below the vehicle bed (20) enabling a load carrying body (26) to be loaded onto or unloaded from an elevated surface (48).

Accessory for a vehicle having a hydraulic loader

The possibility of the end 26 of a boom 20 of a vehicle mounted crane being moved downwardly into engagement with part of the crane or the vehicle on which it is mounted and causing damage thereto during elevation of a mast 18 for the crane from a stowed position (FIG. 2) to an elevated position (FIG. 1) is avoided in a construction wherein the mast 18 is formed of a parallelogram linkage including rigid links 60 and cylinders 72 which assure that the attitude of the boom 20 relative to a base 10 for the crane will not change during elevation of the mast 18.

Vehicle mounted crane

A service vehicle includes a frame (10) on which a material dispensing system is mounted. The dispensing system includes reservoirs (30, 32) and (34) for various lubricants or the like and pumps (46) for pumping material out of the associated reservoirs (30, 32) and (34). The pumps (46) are driven by hydraulic motors (50) which may receive hydraulic fluid under pressure through electrically operated control valves (76) from a pressure compensated, variable displacement pump (60) driven by the engine (64) for the vehicle. The use of the pressure compensated variable displacement pump (60) achieves operating efficiencies.
