Photoconductive compositions having both high-speed and high-resolution are disclosed. The composition comprises a film forming electrically insulating polymer and a dye in the form of a dye-dye complex, having a structure according to the formula ##STR1## wherein X.crclbar. represents an anion; the dye has an absorption spectrum which changes when a binderless coating of the dye is treated with solvent vapors, and the composition containing the dye-dye complex has an absorption spectrum which is similar to the changed absorption spectrum of the dye when treated with solvent vapors.

Photoconductive compositions

Sensitizers for photoconductive compositions and elements are disclosed. The sensitizers are 2,4,6 tri substituted pyrylium dye salts wherein at least one of said substituents is a 5 or 6 membered heterocyclic ring having at least one atom selected from the group consisting of N, O and S.

Sensitizers for photoconductive compositions

Pyrylium, thiapyrylium and selenapyrylium salts and derivatives thereof having a trimethine linkage containing an aryl substituent attached to at least one carbon atom of the trimethine linkage are disclosed. Radiation sensitive compositions, e.g., photoconductive compositions, containing such materials are also disclosed.

Novel radiation sensitive compounds and radiation sensitive compositions

A stabilizer precursor comprising a certain halo organic compound having a halogen substituent which is a chlorine, bromine or iodine atom in a photothermographic element or composition provides improved post-processing stability. This stabilizer precursor is useful in photothermographic materials, for example, comprising photosensitive silver salt and an oxidation-reduction image-forming combination comprising a heavy metal salt oxidizing agent with a reducing agent. Certain of the halo organic compounds are incubation antifoggants for certain of the photothermographic materials.
