When the outer body assembly () is torqued, the outer body assembly transmits the torque to the inner body assembly () from the first ratchet portion () to the second ratchet portion () to threadably engage the retaining body () onto the service port (). When there is a preset amount of torque resistance, the first ratchet portion () slips with respect to the second ratchet portion () such that no additional torque is transmitted to the inner body assembly () from the outer body assembly ().

A diesel particulate filter of a motor vehicle is cleaned of diesel particulate material like ash and possibly soot, typically using equipment already available in a service shop following the method and diesel particulate filter cleaning apparatus of the invention. The diesel particulate filter cleaning apparatus has an air chamber that is coupled to a vibrator and is attached to the diesel particulate filter. The vibrator vibrates the air chamber and the diesel particulate filter to dislodge the diesel particulate material. Air is introduced into the air chamber and into the diesel particulate filter to further remove the diesel particulate material from the diesel particulate filter.

A parking pawl is implemented on a series type, hybrid electric vehicle using a pair of parallel worm gear rollers. The worm gear rollers are placed on opposite sides of a transmission gear from one another and mounted for rotation along their major axes allowing the worm gear rollers to be rotated to present either a planed side or a threaded section to the gear. The gear is circumferentially slotted to cooperate with the threaded section of the rollers to prevent rotation of the gear, but to turn freely when the planed faces of the worm gear roller are adjacent the gear.

Park pawl for electric vehicle transmissions

A parking pawl is implemented on a series type, hybrid electric vehicle by providing a transmission having a moveable locking plate. The locking plate is used to selectively engage and disengage from one of the power transfer gears of the transmission. While the locking plate is linearly moveable between engaged and disengaged position, it is locked against rotation and prevents rotation of the power transfer gear when engaged thereto. An electromagnet is used to pull the locking plate from an engaged position to a retracted, disengaged position. A compression spring biases the plate toward the engaged position with the rotating gear. The locking plate can be held in the retracted position by moveable locking pins to avoid any need to keep the electromagnet energized.

A fluid pump is provided that produces an outflow of fluid that is not proportional to the speed of the input drive. Thus, the fluid pump can be tuned to provide a substantially constant outflow of fluid irrespective of the speed of the input drive. The rack mates with the carriage through a set of slides. The carriage is additionally mated with a pair of rails that are installed on a horizontal surface of the vehicle. The electronic modules or control units are engaged to the rack separate from the vehicle. The rack is engaged by slideably mating with the carriage. The carriage may be moved along the rails to its permanent location that does not need to be relatively near an access point or hatch of the vehicle.
