Provided herewith are methods of preparing a labeled article comprising curing an LED-curable adhesive on a film label such as a shrink film label, wherein at least portions of the LED-curable adhesive are disposed in the overlap formed between a leading edge and trailing edge of the film label. The curing can be conducted at a temperature below 70&#xb0; C. and is suitable for labeling 500-720 articles per minute in a sequential manner. Also provided herewith are apparatus for labeling articles with film labels, such as shrink film labels comprising an LED station. Further, a method of retrofitting an existing hot-melt labeling system for use in labeling articles with film labels such as shrink film labels is also provided.

Fixing wrap-around labels with LED-curable adhesives

A lidstock material suitable for sealing plastic containers that are retorted at elevated temperatures to sterilize their contents. The lidstock material comprises a substrate joined to a film comprising a mixture of a butene-1 polymer; high density polyethylene; polypropylene; and a powdered filler. The lidstock material is heat sealable, peelable, and retains high burst strength both during and after retorting at elevated temperatures.

The container of the invention is suitable for holding various foods, including instant coffee, powdered baby formula and soup mixes. The lidstock material includes a film containing an ethylene-carboxylic acid copolymer, polybutylene and a particulate inorganic filler.

Peelable and heat sealable lidstock material for steel end containers

A peelable and heat sealable lidstock material comprises a metal or polymer substrate laminated with a film comprising a mixture of a butene-1 and ethylene copolymer, an ethylene homopolymer or copolymer, an inorganic filler and optionally, a propylene homopolymer or copolymer. The filler makes up at least about 18 wt. % of the mixture and is preferably talc having an average particle size of about 1-2 microns and a carboxylic acid surface coating.

Peelable and heat sealable lidstock material for plastic containers

The present invention is a coated particulate in the form of a powder or in the form of a pellet, the particulate comprising a vinylidene chloride interpolymer and being coated with at least one processing aid at a level effective to improve the extrudability of the vinylidene chloride interpolymer. The processing aid beneficially is selected from the group consisting of fatty esters; wax esters; glycerol esters; glycol esters; fatty alcohol esters, fatty alcohols; fatty amides; metallic salts of fatty acids; olefin polymers and polyolefin waxes.

Extrudable thermoplastic particulates

In one embodiment, the present invention is a polymeric composition, in pellet form, which comprises a vinyldene chloride interpolymer, and a friction reducing polymer (FRP) in an amount of from about 0.1 to about 40 weight percent, said weight percent being based on the total weight of the polymeric composition. The FRP is selected to selected to lower the frictional coefficient and the mechanical energy to extrude of the polymeric composition. In another embodiment, the present invention is a polymeric composition, in either power or pellet form, possessing improved extrudability, composition comprises a vinylidene chloride interpolymer in an amount of from about 55 to about 99.85 weight percent, a FRP in an amount from about 0.1 to about 40 weight percent, and a salt of an acid in an amount of between about 0.05 and about 5 weight percent, said weight percents being based on the total weight of the polymeric composition.

Extrudable polymeric composition

A styling comb for use in hair treatments advantageously provides a variety of divisions for hair sections to enable careful and accurate treatment of hair. The styling comb includes a back portion, a handle portion connected to the back portion, and first and second sets of teeth arranged in an outwardly projecting manner from the back portion.
