A wearable cardiac monitoring and treatment device for improved skin interface contact and easy assembly and disassembly includes a garment including an inner surface and an outer surface, ECG sensing electrodes, and at least one stiffener forming a section of the garment in proximity to one or more of the ECG sensing electrodes. The at least one stiffener is configured to resist rotation or pulling away of the one or more of the ECG sensing electrodes from a patient's torso. The device includes therapy electrodes, at least one separate module including a therapy delivery circuit, and a controller. The device includes compartments configured to receive the therapy electrodes and at least one separate module, and retention loops configured to route external wires extending between at least the therapy electrodes and at least one separate module, where the compartments and retention loops are disposed on the outer surface of the garment.

Garments for wearable cardiac monitoring and treatment devices

A patient-worn arrhythmia monitoring and treatment device weight between 250 grams and 2,500 grams includes at least one contoured pad configured to be adhesively coupled to a patient's torso, a plurality of therapy electrodes, at least one of which is integrated with the at least one contoured pad, and a plurality of ECG sensing electrodes, at least one of which is integrated with the at least one contoured pad. At least one housing configured to form a watertight seal with the at least one contoured pad extends no more than 5 cm from the contoured pad. A processor disposed within the housing is coupled to a therapy delivery circuit and configured to detect one or more treatable arrhythmias based on at least one ECG signal and cause a therapy delivery circuit to deliver at least one defibrillation pulse on detecting the one or more treatable arrhythmias.

Adhesively coupled wearable medical device

An externally worn cardiac monitoring and/or treatment system with battery detachment detection is provided. The system includes detachment circuitry and audible and/or vibrational alarm circuitry operably coupled to the detachment circuitry. The detachment circuitry is configured to detect whether the rechargeable battery is detached from the battery-powered externally worn cardiac device by monitoring a connection established between the rechargeable battery and the at least one processor and output a battery status signal indicating whether the rechargeable battery is detached from the battery-powered externally worn cardiac device. The audible and/or vibrational alarm circuitry is configured to receive the battery status signal and output an audible alert in a predetermined frequency range and/or a tactile alert if the rechargeable battery is detached.

Systems and methods for providing an alert indicating battery removal from a wearable medical device

A wearable cardiac monitoring and treatment device includes a garment, a plurality of ECG electrodes, a plurality of therapy electrodes, a therapy delivery circuit, and one or more sensors configured to monitor one or more physiological signals of the patient. The device also includes a controller configured to detect an arrhythmia condition, cause the therapy delivery circuit to deliver one or more therapeutic pulses to the patient on detecting the arrhythmia condition, detect that the garment is no longer worn about the torso of the patient prior to expiration of at least a prescribed duration of wear by detecting a loss of signal for at least a threshold period of time from one or more of the plurality of ECG sensing electrodes and/or one or more of the one or more sensors, and issue a notification that the garment is no longer worn about the torso of the patient.

System and methods for providing a patient with arrhythmia treatment are described. For example, a system includes an arrhythmia monitoring and treatment assembly configured to be worn on the torso of the patient. The assembly has a housing discreetly extending from a skin surface of the patient. The assembly is configured to provide therapy on detecting one or more arrhythmia conditions of the patient. A first at least one user response button is disposed on the assembly at a first location on the torso concealed under clothing, and a second at least one user response button is configured to be worn on a second location of the patient's body, a location other than the torso that is accessible to the patient. The system suspends an impending therapy upon receiving a user input from either one of the first or second at least one user response buttons.

Wearable medical device response mechanisms and methods of use

A wearable cardiac monitoring and treatment device includes a garment, a plurality of ECG electrodes and a plurality of therapy electrodes supported by the garment. A fastener is configured to secure the garment about a torso of the patient for a prescribed duration. A disengagement sensor to provides an indication of disengagement of the fastener prior to expiration of the prescribed duration in which the garment is no longer secured about the torso of the patient. The device includes a therapy delivery circuit coupled to the plurality of therapy electrodes and configured to deliver one or more therapeutic pulses. A controller coupled to therapy delivery circuit is configured to analyze an ECG signal monitored by the plurality of ECG electrodes and, upon detecting one or more treatable arrhythmias, cause the therapy delivery circuit to deliver the one or more therapeutic pulses to the patient.
