A bracket includes a body with a first clamp and a second clamp. The first clamp is pivotably mounted and operatively engaged with a first lever that is pivotable between a release position and a locking position. A second lever is operatively engaged with the first lever to prevent the first lever from pivoting from a locking position to a release position.

A vibration stabilizer is provided for a power tool such as a sander or the like which has a pivotally oscillating driveshaft for supporting a tool head. The tool is provided with an elongate body having an internal cavity aligned along a longitudinal axis for receiving a drive motor therein. A driveshaft is pivotally supported upon the elongate body rotatable about a pivot axis. The drive motor operatively engages the driveshaft to cause the driveshaft to pivotally oscillate within a limited angular range when the drive motor is energized. Relative vibration between the tool head and the elongate body is minimized by an elastic ring which extends about the driveshaft and is interposed between the tool head and the elongate body. The elastic ring is loaded in compression axially biasing the tool head and the attached driveshaft in a direction away from the elongate body.

An actuator switch (25) for an electrical power tool (10), having a housing (16) and an electric motor supported by the housing (16) for operatively driving a work implement, is provided. The actuator switch (25) includes a trigger (22) which cooperates with the housing (16) and is shiftably operable by the user between 'on' and 'off' positions. A power switch assembly (26) is oriented within the tool housing (16) adjacent the trigger (22) for actuation thereby. The power switch assembly includes a body (28) defining an internal cavity (30) with an aperture (32) extending therethrough. An electrical switch (34) is located within the switch assembly (26) and is electrically connected to the electric motor. A plunger (42) extends through the body aperture (32) to enable the trigger (22) to activate the electrical switch (34). An elastomeric pad (44) is operatively positioned between the plunger (42) and the trigger (22). The pad (44) is of sufficient size and thickness to sealingly engage the switch body (28) and to cover the aperture (32) when the trigger (22) is shifted to the 'on' position to maintain the power tool energized during normal operation, in spite of tool vibration, and to prevent dirt and debris from entering the cavity (30) of the actuator switch body (28).

An adjustable fence for orienting a plate joiner having a body and a rotating generally planar cutter to cut an arcuate slot in a workpiece is disclosed. The fence comprises a base, a handle and fastening means. The base is shiftably affixed to the plate joiner body and has a planar surface forming a first fence oriented generally perpendicular to the plane of the cutter. The base also has a guideway parallel to the first fence. The handle is movably adjustably affixed to the base and has a grip portion adapted to cooperate with a hand of an operator and a planar surface forming a second fence forming an angle relative to the first fence. The handle cooperates with the base guideway enabling the second fence to be adjusted along a guideway axis parallel to the first fence relative to the planar cutter. The handle is pivotal about a transverse axis parallel to the first and second fences to vary the angle of the second fence relative to the first fence. The fastening means selectively fastens the handle to the base in a desired location.

The base is shiftably affixed to the plate joiner body and has a planar surface forming a first fence oriented generally perpendicular to the plane of the cutter. The base also has a guideway parallel to the first fence. The handle is movably adjustably affixed to the base and has a grip portion adapted to cooperate with a hand of an operator and a planar surface forming a second fence forming an angle relative to the first fence. The handle cooperates with the base guideway enabling the second fence to be adjusted along a guideway axis parallel to the first fence relative to the planar cutter. The handle is pivotal about a transverse axis parallel to the first and second fences to vary the angle of the second fence relative to the first fence. The fastening mechanism selectively fastens the handle to the base in any one of a plurality of desired locations.

A surface treating tool is provided with a debris collection container which includes a semi-rigid frame defining at least one window and mesh fabric covering that window. The exterior configuration of the container is such that the container blends in which the contour of the tool to provide an aesthetically pleasing appearance.

A support for a dust bag for use in connection with an electrically driven surface treating machine to collect dust created by the machine during operation which comprises a rod member detachably connected to an exhaust conduit on the machine. Means are provided to insure proper positioning or alignment of the dust bag support so that the support may function to hold the dust bag up and away from the work piece so as not to interfere with the operator in using the machine.
