The row crop cultivator includes a cultivation unit (10) with a unit frame (12) attached to a tool bar (21) by parallel links (28 and 34). The unit frame (12) is supported by a pair of gauge wheels (14 and 16). A disk coulter (18) is mounted on the unit frame (12) with its forward edge positioned between the gauge wheels (14 and 16). A middleworker (20) is supported by the unit frame (20) directly behind the disk coulter (18). The gauge wheels (14 and 16) are mounted on an axle assembly (90) that includes gauge wheel arms (92 and 94) and a force equalizing link (98). The force equalizing link (98) equalizes the force exerted on the two gauge wheels (14 and 16) by the unit frame (12). An adjustment rod (106) adjusts the position of the force equalizing link. A coulter adjustment rod (54 ) with a lost motion connection adjusts the maximum depth of the disk coulter. The middleworker (20) includes a shank attachment bar (152), a triangular horizontal plate (164) with a subsoil point (160) and two reversible shares (170 and 172).

A row crop cultivator is provided with a seed dispensing manifold attached to and spanning the lay shares forming a part of its middleworker assembly. The seed distribution manifold is designed to randomly distribute seeds fed into it from a towed planter assembly that includes a seed hopper, metering means for feeding out seeds from the hopper in accordance with the ground speed of the apparatus and a blower for forcing the seeds through suitable tubes to the seed distribution manifold.

A curbside check-in counter includes a cabinet unit that can be moved from place to place in a transportation terminal while still retaining features that permit a passenger to complete his or her check-in procedure in a manner similar to that carried out at a main check-in position. The check-in counter has a scale unit that is connected to a computer in the unit so baggage can be weighed, and any excess baggage charges noted and assessed. The scale unit can be stored beneath the check-in counter when not in use. The check-in counter further includes compartments for a printer as well as displays for flight information. The cabinet unit further includes compartments for heating and air conditioning systems, as well as trash bins, cash drawers, control panel compartments, and compartments for other units associated with the counter.

Automated curbside check-in counter

An improved row crop cultivator for use in minimum tillage applications is described. A plurality of ganged cultivating units are mounted on a tool bar adapted to be towed behind a tractor vehicle. Each cultivating unit comprises a frame which is supported on a pair of spaced-apart gauge wheels. Also mounted on the frame for rotation within the gap between the gauge wheels is a disk-shaped coulter blade which is configured to cut through crop residue and weed debris as the material being cut is held against the ground surface by the gauge wheels. This arrangement tends to prevent improper cutting known as 'hair-pinning'. Trailing directly behind the coulter blade is a middleworker comprising a narrow width shank depending from the frame and having a weld point on its lower leading edge and wing-like share blades flaring rearwardly and outwardly at a predetermined angle from the lower end of the shank. The middleworker design reduces the tendency for slabs of earth to be thrown onto and thereby damaging growing row crops.

Row crop cultivator

A dual function cart convertible between a wheelbarrow-type load transporter and a vehicle towed cart. The cart comprises a frame supporting a load carrying tube, the frame including a transversing extending axle having relatively large diameter spoked wheels journaled for rotation on opposed ends of the axle. Pivotally secured to the frame is a handle assembly in the form of a rectangular loop which, when latched by a removable rod in a first position orients the handle in an upright plane where the vehicle can be operated as a wheelbarrow. Alternatively, the removable rod may be used to latch the handle in a generally horizontal plane at an elevation facilitating connection thereof by a clevis to a hitch on a towing vehicle. The cart also includes an auxiliary side member which may be secured to the tub for increasing the effective load-carrying volume of the tub.

Convertible wheelbarrow/cart

An elongated boom is pivotally mounted to the forward portion of a tractor and includes a pair of drive/steering wheels mounted to the forward end portion thereof. An electrically actuated, hydraulic control system provides for direction control and rotation of the drive/steering wheels as well as for pivoting displacement of the boom. The drive/steering wheels are mounted to the boom by means of a front axle bolster and pivot assembly, the mounting point of which to the boom may be fixed as desired to permit the effective length of the boom to be varied. Also mounted to a forward portion of the boom by means of the front axle bolster and pivot assembly is a three-point hitch with tilting mast to which a toolbar having a plurality of row units mounted thereto is attached. A hydraulic top link cylinder coupled between the front axle bolster and pivot assembly and the three point hitch allows the toolbar to be rotated about its longitudinal axis and thus affords on-the-go row unit depth control. A pair of hydraulic lift cylinders coupled to the three point hitch via a rock shaft provides for the displacement of the toolbar and row units to an upraised, nonuse position for transport as well as the lowering thereof to a working, ground engaging position.

Tractor boom

An inter-row crop cultivator for use particularly in severe residue conditions such as in minimum tillage conservation applications is disclosed. A leading gauge wheel providing support and soil surface tracking is immediately trailed by two laterally displaced discs which cut away from the row. Aft of the two cutaway discs and directly to the rear of the gauge wheel is a stabilizing and cutting coulter which prevents side to side sway while cutting and reducing residue ahead of a sweep shank which directly trails the cutting coulter. By severing and dividing the residue, the cutting coulter permits the residue to flow over the sweep and around the shank. The shank is adapted to receive an anhydrous ammonia applicator and knife assembly which may be easily and securely mounted to the shank. A plurality of such inter-row crop cultivators may be mounted on a tool bar. A winged ridger/bedder may be either positioned in a non-use or storage position above the soil on the shank or slid down the shank to a use position in contact with the soil for forming the loosened soil and residue into parallel ridges over the newly formed rows in preparing a seed bed for later planting. Various selectively adjustable controls are provided for setting gauge wheel height, stabilizing and cutting coulter height, cutaway disc separation and height, the downward pressure applied to the working implements, and implement deflection cushion tension permitting implement deflection upon impact with an obstruction.

Cultivator row unit with ridger/bedder implement

An inter-row crop cultivator for use particularly in severe residue conditions such as in minimum tillage conservation applications is disclosed. A leading gauge wheel providing support and soil surface tracking is immediately trailed by two laterally displaced discs which cut away from the row. Aft of the two cutaway discs and directly to the rear of the gauge wheel is a stabilizing and cutting coulter which prevents side to side sway while cutting and reducing residue ahead of a sweep shank which directly trails the cutting coulter. A plurality of such inter-row crop cultivators may be mounted on a tool bar. A winged ridger/bedder may be either positioned above the soil on the shank or slid down the shank in contact with the soil for forming the loosened soil and residue into parallel ridges over the newly formed rows in preparing a seed bed for later planting. Various selectively adjustable controls are provided for setting gauge wheel height, stabilizing and cutting coulter height, cutaway disc separation and height, the downward pressure applied to the working implements, and implement deflection cushion tension permitting implement deflection upon impact with an obstruction.

The planter includes a number of forward tillage units each followed by an aligned planting unit. Both units are independently mounted by four-bar linkages to the planter frame. Each tillage unit includes a leading banded coulter followed by a pair of rolling row cleaning discs which are, in turn, followed by a fluted coulter. The system may be used in any of the following planting modes: (1) no-till planting, in which the fluted coulter only is used to prepare a narrow band of soil for planting with no trash removal; (2) ridge planting or till-planting, in which the row cleaning discs clear a deeper wide band before the fluted coulter while leaving bands between the row crops untilled; (3) minimum tillage planting, in which the row cleaning discs may be used to clear a shallow band of surface trash before the fluted coulter; and (4) conventional planting, in which the tillage units are raised and not used. Simple field adjustment can quickly convert the system to any of these plow modes as field conditions require. In each of the first three modes, an adjustable weight may be used to set the weight on the tillage units.

Conservation tillage row crop planter system

Apparatus for use in balancing a truck or bus wheel includes an assembly for axially securing such a wheel on a shaft and a stand to rotatably support the wheel-holding assembly while the wheel is being balanced. The stand has spaced shaft supporting members rearwardly and downwardly inclined and provided with stops spaced rearwardly of the front of the stand and hooks that protrude therefrom. The stand has a chamber open at the front and between the members which is of a depth and length greater than the radius of the wheel. With the stand tipped forwardly to position the hooks to receive the shaft of the assembly and then returned to its stable position, the assembly is lifted and held against the stops.

Apparatus for use in balancing bus and truck wheels

A putter has a chamber extending lengthwise of its head in which there is a battery powered motor driving a fly wheel at the outer end of the head at a rate such that a gyroscopic force is provided adequate to stabilize the head against being turned by the golfer as a putt is made. The head is shown as symmetrical so that a putter may be used by either a left-handed or a right-handed golfer and the head may be weighted as desired by placing one or more weights within the chamber. The switch control of the circuit may be manually operated or of the mercury type.

Putter

A wheel balancer has a support by which a wheel may be rotatably held by bearing units to be free to turn until it comes to rest with its heavy point lowermost. The wheel supporting shaft, the bearing units and the supports therefor provide mechanical advantage to unbalancing weight distributions.
