A tissue segmentation device, controller, and methods therefore are disclosed. The device has an active electrode, a return electrode, a mechanical force application mechanism, voltage and current sensors, and a controller. The controller has a processing component, configured to assign a circuit status to a circuit comprising the at least one electrode. IF (PF≈0) and ((Vrms/Irms)≥T), THEN the circuit status is 'open'. IF (PF≈0) and ((Vrms/Irms)<T), THEN the circuit status is “short”. PF is a power factor of power applied to the electrosurgical device. T is a threshold value.

Electrosurgical device and methods

The invention is a system and a device for use in open or minimally invasive surgical procedures, such as a bone implant fixation procedure. The device is configured to perform various functions during a bone implant fixation procedure, including performing at least one of: penetration of a bone to form a hole or opening for receipt of a screw; neuromonitoring, in cooperation with a neuromonitoring device, of the hole during, or post-, formation of the hole so as to sense any nearby nerves adjacent to the hole that may be in the path of a screw, or otherwise affected, when a screw is placed within the hole; neurostimulation, in cooperation with a neuromonitoring device, of nerves adjacent to the hole during, or post-, formation of the hole; and measuring of a depth of the hole and providing a digital measurement of the depth to assist the surgeon in selecting the appropriate length of screw.

An ultrasonic motion generator includes a non-resonant inverter, an ultrasonic transducer, and a comparator. The non-resonant inverter inverts direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC) having a first frequency. The ultrasonic transducer is electrically coupled with the non-resonant inverter and generates an ultrasonic motion based on the inverted AC. The comparator automatically detects a deviation of the first frequency from a resonant frequency of the ultrasonic transducer based on motion current passing through the ultrasonic transducer and generates an output signal based on the deviation to drive the non-resonant inverter.

The present disclosure is directed to an electrosurgical generator including a resonant inverter having an H-bridge and a tank. A sensor array measures at least one property of the tank. A pulse width modulation (PWM) controller outputs a first PWM timing signal and a second PWM timing signal to the H-bridge. The PWM controller controls a dead-time between the first PWM timing signal and the second PWM timing signal based on the at least one property measured by the sensor array.

System and method for temperature enhanced irreversible electroporation

The present invention relates to a device, and software and methodology associated with a portable Automated External Defibrillator ('AED'). The portable AED works with a mobile device and software, and includes two or more cardiac pads, a battery pack, and specialized capacitor. When connected to a patient in cardiac arrest, the AED contacts Emergency Medical Services, and records patient information to be transmitted for evaluation by medical providers. The AED is able to analyze cardiac rhythms, suggests administering one or more shocks to the patient in appropriate cardiac arrhythmia, and guides a user on proper CPR technique, if enabled. The AED software can alert other personnel via a mobile device app.

Automated external defibrillator device and methods of use

The present disclosure is directed to an electrosurgical generator including a tank configured to output energy and an H-bridge configured to drive the tank. The generator also includes a choke. The choke impedes a common mode current generated by the H-bridge and provides a leakage inductance for the tank.

An electrosurgical generator is provided. The electrosurgical generator includes: a non-resonant radio frequency output stage configured to output a substantially square electrosurgical waveform; and a controller coupled to the non-resonant radio frequency output stage, the controller configured to adjust a crest factor of the substantially square electrosurgical waveform on a cycle-by-cycle basis.

An electrode assembly for use with an electrosurgical instrument includes a pair of opposing jaw members and an electrode positioned on each jaw member. One or both of the electrodes includes a tissue contacting surface that has an outer periphery and defines a side surface depending therefrom. Controlling a level of electrosurgical energy provided to tissue based on detected arcing patterns or impedance changes. The drag force imposed on an electrode or blade of an electrosurgical instrument may be controlled by adjusting the level of electrosurgical energy based on the arcing patterns or impedance changes. The arcing patterns or impedance changes may be detected by sensing and analyzing voltage and/or current waveforms of the electrosurgical energy. The current and/or voltage waveform analysis may involve calculating impedance based on the voltage and current waveforms and calculating changes in impedance over time. The waveform analysis may involve detecting harmonic distortion using FFTs, DFTs, Goertzel filters, polyphase demodulation techniques, and/or bandpass filters. The waveform analysis may involve determining a normalized difference or the average phase difference between the voltage and current waveforms.

Systems and methods for arc detection and drag adjustment

An electrosurgical generator is provided. The electrosurgical generator includes at least one converter configured to output a DC waveform and a nonlinear carrier control current. At least one boost inverter is coupled to the at least one converter and is configured to convert the DC waveform to generate at least one electrosurgical waveform. At least one inductor is connected in series with the at least one converter and at least one boost inverter and is configured to output an inductor current. A controller is coupled to the at least one converter and the at least one boost inverter and is configured to maintain the inductor current at a predetermined value by controlling a pulse duration of a duty cycle of the at least one converter based on a comparison of inductor current and the nonlinear control current.

Electrosurgical generators

A controller for an electrosurgical device and related methods and devices are disclosed. The controller has a processing component to: (a) derive a power factor of power applied to the electrosurgical device; and (b) responsive to the deriving a power factor, assign a circuit status to a circuit comprising the electrosurgical device. IF (PF&#x2248;0) and ((Vrms/Irms)&#x2265;T), THEN the circuit status is 'open'. IF (PF&#x2248;0) and ((Vrms/Irms)&#x3c;T), THEN the circuit status is 'short'. PF is the power factor. Vrms is the root mean square of a voltage associated with the power applied to the at electrosurgical device. Irms is the root mean square of a current associated with the power applied to the electrosurgical device. T is a threshold value.

An ultrasonic transducer and generator assembly and method for controlling the assembly are disclosed. The method includes sensing a current signal and a voltage signal at the transducer, differentiating the voltage signal, multiplying the differentiated voltage signal by a bulk capacitance value to determine a bulk capacitance current signal, determining the difference between the current signal and the bulk capacitance current signal to determine a motional current signal corresponding to mechanical motion of the transducer, determining an updated bulk capacitance value based on the determined motional current signal and the bulk capacitance current signal, generating a transducer signal based on the motional current signal, and driving the transducer with the transducer signal. The method may further include filtering the difference between the current signal and the bulk capacitance current signal using a band-pass filter. The updated bulk capacitance may be determined using a least mean squares adaptive filter.
