A novel chloride salt based de-icing composition comprising a corrosion inhibitor of a de-sugared sugar beet molasses. The corrosion inhibited de-icing compound comprises from 5 to 25 percent by weight of de-sugared molasses compared with the weight percent of the chloride salt in the de-icing composition.

2,6-Difluoroaniline is prepared from 1,2,3-trichlorobenzene by partial fluorine exchange to a mixture of 2,6-difluorochlorobenzene and 2,3-difluorochlorobenzene, amination of the chloro substituents, and separation of the desired product from the isomeric 2,3-difluoroaniline. By incorporating a selective reduction into the process immediately after the partial fluorine exchange, the undesirable 2,3-difluorochlorobenzene is converted into valuable ortho-difluorobenzene and the 2,3-difluoroaniline isomer is avoided.

Process for the preparation of 2,6-difluoroaniline

1-Chloro-3,5-difluorobenzene is chlorinated to give 4,6-difluoro-1,2,3-trichlorobenzene which in turn is nitrated and reduced to the corresponding novel aniline, 2,6-difluoro-3,4,5-trichloroaniline. Further reduction of this aniline provides 2,6-difluoroaniline with high selectivity.
