A baler utilizing gas springs for controlling the movement of a loading door. Also disclosed is a baler for paper recycling having a control system responsive to switches and digital timers, and an electromagnetic interlock coupling a loading door and a chamber door, said control system including a programmable relay having outputs to motor starter, control valves, and electromagnetic interlock. A mode selection switch enables automatic, manual down, and manual up modes, the latter of which is used to eject a bale. The electromagnetic interlock performs multiple functions reducing the number of components needed in the system, improving reliability and reducing maintenance.

Pneumatic assist baler doors and platen interlocks

An athletic training system has a user support with a vertical plane extending centrally there through. A pair of similarly configured looped tracks, one track on each side of the vertical plane, each have a common cross sectional configuration throughout and an axial shape corresponding to the intended movement of the hands of a user. A handle is slidably received on each track. Each handle includes a slider and a gripping portion. A user pushes and pulls the handle in a configuration corresponding to the configuration of the track.

Fire retardant sheeting materials for roofing having improved burn resistivity and are suitable for use on roofs having inclines of at least 1 inch per linear foot. These sheeting materials are prepared from a polymeric composition of matter comprising a base polymer containing at least one ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer, the base polymer having up to about 2 percent by weight crystallinity; from about 85 to about 175 parts by weight of at least one non-combustible mineral filler per 100 parts of the base polymer; from about 30 to about 50 parts by weight of a processing material, per 100 parts of the base polymer; from about 50 to about 80 parts by weight of at least one fire retardant additive, per 100 parts of the base polymer; and from about 1.5 to about 10 parts by weight of a sulfur cure package per 100 parts of the base polymer. The composition contains at least 40 percent non-combustible materials, and the sheeting material has a limiting oxygen index (LOI) of at least 40 percent when tested in accordance with ASTM D2863-91. A method of covering a roof comprises the steps of applying layers of the fire retardant roof sheeting material prepared from the polymeric composition of matter, to the roof being covered, overlapping adjacent edges of the roof sheet material, and adhesively seaming the overlapped layers of the roof sheet material together to form a continuous roofing membrane.

Fire retardant EPDM roofing membrane compositons for use on high-sloped roofs

A method of recycling EPDM rubber including the steps of devulcanizing previously cured EPDM rubber and adding the devulcanized EPDM rubber to a composition for forming an elastomeric membrane for roofing, the composition including a rubber mixture including from about 50 to about 95 parts by weight virgin EPDM rubber, and from about 5 to about 50 parts by weight of the devulcanized EPDM rubber, to total one hundred parts by weight rubber, from about 75 to about 300 parts by weight phr of a filler, from about 35 to about 135 parts by weight phr of a processing oil, and a cure package.

Utilization of devulcanized EPDM membrane in the manufacture of EPDM membrane, flashing and roof accessories

A swimming simulation system comprises a base assembly including an elongated central section with a front edge and with a parallel rear edge and long parallel side edges there between the base assembly. Also included is a generally v-shaped section, with legs extending upwardly with interior slopping faces extending upwardly. A table is provided in a generally horizontal orientation having an upper surface to receive the user and a lower surface with a table support block secured to the upper surface of the central section and supporting the table. Lastly provided are an upper air cylinder and a lower air cylinder, each having a ball joint coupled to each associated interior sloping face. Each air cylinder has a reciprocable rod and a hand-receiving loop coupled to the exterior ends of the reciprocable rods.

High durometer, polymeric roofing shingles with varying colors and shades of color may be prepared from a composition of matter comprising 100 parts by weight of a ethylene-propylene-diene (EPDM) terpolymer; from 25 to about 400 parts by weight of at least one non-combustible filler per 100 parts of ethylene-propylene-diene (EPDM) terpolymer; from 0 to about 125 parts by weight of at least one combustible filler, per 100 parts of ethylene-propylene-diene (EPDM) terpolymer; from 0 to about 135 parts by weight of a thermoplastic modifying polymer; from 0 to about 10 parts by weight of reinforcing fibers, per 100 parts of ethylene-propylene-diene (EPDM) terpolymer; from about 20 to about 75 parts by weight of a processing oil per 100 parts of ethylene-propylene-diene (EPDM) terpolymer; and from about 1 to about 6 parts by weight of a sulfur cure package having at least two curing accelerators. Fiber reinforced, high durometer, EPDM-based roofing shingles of the present invention are a suitable replacement for traditional slate, wood or asphalt roofing shingles used to cover sloped roofs. A method is further provided for covering sloped roofs comprising applying a plurality of the fiber reinforced, high durometer EPDM-based roofing shingles of the present invention to a sloped roof in a preselected installation pattern.

EPDM-based roofing shingle compositions

A walkway pad composition comprises 100 parts by weight of an ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer; from about 60 to 700 parts by weight of a filler selected from the group consisting of reinforcing and non-reinforcing materials and mixtures thereof, per 100 parts of the terpolymer; from about 40 to 175 parts by weight of a processing material and mixtures thereof, per 100 parts of the terpolymer; and from about 2 to 10 parts by weight of a cure package, per 100 parts of the EPDM terpolymer, the composition being devoid of any additional polymeric components. The 100 percent EPDM walkway pad composition has better low temperature properties and superior weathering resistance, and heat aging resistance compared to other walkway pad compositions which may include other polymeric components such as natural rubber, synthetic polyisoprene, styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), polybutadiene, and butyl (IR) rubber. Up to about 25 parts by weight of ethylene-propylene copolymers may be substituted for the EPDM terpolymers.

EPDM walkway pad compositions and uses therefor

There is disclosed compaction apparatus for waste management and recycling purposes including a hydraulic cylinder driven ram capable of exerting very large forces to compact waste paper, trash, or similar commercial or residential waste material. The hydraulic system of the apparatus includes a pump powered by a large electric motor. Forward and reverse motion of the ram is controlled by solenoid valves controlled by limit switches or position sensing switches responding to ram position, and in some cases to time delay devices coordinated with the travel time of the ram. Means for sensing a high resistive force encountered by the ram indicates that a waste container is full or nearly full or in certain apparatus may indicate a need to reverse a baler ram to a rest position to receive more waste material. A motor current sensor is used for indirectly determining when the resistive force on the ram reaches a set value and includes a current level adjustment and an adjustable delay setting so that no responsive action occurs in the apparatus for high currents lasting less than 1 second or other preset time value. Accordingly, high currents on motor starting and also momentary high currents in trash compaction do not give false signals indicating fullness of a container or other false indication. The control logic is simple and is executed by relays which may be electromechanical or solid-state.

Flat rubber sheets are joined together at their primed surfaces utilizing an adhesive tape composition which features at least one EPDM rubber and will provide a long-term, water-tight barrier. The adhesive tape composition is a solventless, preformed, tacky composition comprising a) at least one crosslinkable EPDM rubber, b) a filler, either of the reinforcing or semi-reinforcing variety, c) one or more compatible tackifiers, d) a softener, and lastly, e) a cure system for the rubbery polymer. The tape composition itself has excellent ozone, moisture, weathering and heat aging resistance as well as superior low temperature properties.

Adhesive tape compositions

An adhesive tape composition includes a polymer blend comprising at least one ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer and at least one fully saturated adhesive-enhancing polymer miscible with said at least one ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer. The tape adhesive composition further includes at least one tackifying additive compatible with said polymer blend and a sulfur and organic accelerator cure package for said polymer blend, the adhesive composition being devoid of butyl rubber which is found in most other adhesive tape compositions. This composition is seen as providing excellent long-term heat aging, weathering resistance, and low temperature properties as compared to adhesive tape compositions containing butyl rubber. Moreover, the adhesive tape composition provides more surface tack, better 'quick-grab', and higher green strength as compared to adhesive tape compositions containing 100 percent EPDM rubber. A method is also provided for covering roofs which includes the step of employing the adhesive tape composition.
