An adapter for an existing cup holder in a theater for easily mounting a closed captioned device having a mounting rod or gooseneck while still providing the patron with a cup holder, comprises a base having a top side and a bottom side and at least two holes therein, wherein the mounting rod of the closed captioned device is mounted into the corresponding hole in the base, a cylindrical cup holder having an integral adjustment screw extending from the bottom thereof, which is fed through a corresponding hole in the base; and a clamping mechanism which moves in relation to the movement of the adjustment screw for temporarily clamping the adapter to the existing cup holder. When the cup holder is turned in a first direction, the clamping mechanism fixedly mounts the adapter into the existing cup holder. The adaptor may be removed by turning the cup holder in the opposite direction. Instead of or in addition to providing another cup holder, the patron may be provided with a tray, table, electronics holder or other accessory by using an accessory adaptor. Further, the adapter may be mounted to an armrest by turning the accessory holder so that it clamps onto the armrest.

The present invention comprises a light and sound sensor system and method for repetitively measuring the luminance, chromaticity, sound, and infrared illumination in a theater to detect any changes thereto so that the images being viewed on the screen and the sound in the theater can be kept at their optimal values. In addition, in a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the system has an audio and video synchronization capability. By monitoring the audio and visual signals in real time, the exact time relationship between the signals is detected to determine whether they are properly synchronized.

Light and sound monitor

A method and system for playing movies with object-based sound complying with industry security standards using less processing power than the prior art, comprises an integrated media block in which, in non-real-time, encrypted audio files are decrypted. The object-based and channel-based audio data is then rendered to theater specific channels in non-real time. After the audio objects are rendered, the rendered audio is re-encrypted and stored for use at a later time. When the rendered movie is to be played in real time, the encrypted video and rendered encrypted audio files are streamed from the server, decrypted, forensically marked and played. Using the present invention, movies also can be downloaded and pre-processed while another movie is playing.

Secure system and method for audio processing

A system for providing closed-caption text in a movie theater wherein the caption information is only visible to those patrons wishing to view the text, comprising a projector projecting a plurality of light applications onto a predetermined strip of light in a viewing area, encoding the caption text so that it will only be viewed within the predetermined strip of light in the viewing area and decoding the encoded text so that it will be viewed only by those patrons wishing to view the text.

Captioning system and method

The present invention is a system and method to quickly and accurately measure the luminance and luminance distribution of a light on the surface of an object so that the position of the focusing reflectors in the projector can be adjusted to obtain the best luminance available for that object. In one method of the present invention a scanning light receiver, which produces an optical image of the object whose luminance is to be tested, is set up so that it may view a substantial portion of the surface of the object. The light receiver is connected to a analyzer and control unit ('ACU') to which it sends an electronic image representing the reflected luminance of the surface during each scan. The reflected light that is detected by the light receiver is then analyzed by the ACU to determine the luminance levels and distribution across a substantial portion of the surface. Once this analysis is complete, the ACU sends the results to a control interface unit which is connected to said focusing reflector which continuously adjusts the position of the focusing mirror until optimal luminance and luminance distribution is achieved across the viewing surface. In another method of the present invention, photo sensors are used to detect the luminance in different areas on a surface, Using either method and/or system of the present invention, the focusing mirror continually and automatically may be fine tuned until optimum luminance is achieved.

Focusing mirror control system and method for adjusting same

The present invention is a system and method to quickly and accurately measure the luminance and luminance distribution of a light on the surface of an object so that the position of the lamp can be adjusted relative to the projector optics to obtain the best luminance available for that object. A scanning light receiver, which produces an optical image of the object whose luminance is to be tested, is set up so that it may view a substantial portion of the surface of the object. The light receiver is connected to a analyzer and control unit ('ACU') to which it sends an electronic image representing the reflected luminance of the surface during each scan. The reflected light that is detected by the light receiver is then analyzed by the ACU to determine the luminance levels and distribution across a substantial portion of the surface by measuring the voltage of each pixel detected by the light receiver measured against the voltage produced by a black level. Once this analysis is complete, the ACU sends the results to a driver interface unit which is connected to a light source position controller in the projector which continuously adjusts the position of the light source relative to the projector optics until optimal luminance and luminance distribution is achieved across the viewing surface. For example, using the method and system of the present invention, the position of the lamp continually and automatically may be fine tuned until optimum luminance is achieved.

Lamp illumination control system and method

The present invention is a system and method to expeditiously and accurately measure the luminance, weave, jump and flicker of an object so that the best luminance available for that object may be achieved by making adjustments to the light source, the reflecting surface and the like. A scanning light receiver which produces a two dimensional optical image of the object whose luminance is to be tested, is set up so that it may view a substantial portion of the object. The light receiver is connected to a analyzer and interface unit ('AIU') to which it sends an electronic image representing the reflected luminance of the object during each scan. The reflected light that is detected by the light receiver is then analyzed by the AIU to determine the luminance levels, weave, jump and flicker of the luminance across a substantial portion of the object by measuring the voltage of each pixel detected by the light receiver measured against the voltage produced by a black level.

Projection system visual characteristics analyzer

The present invention overcomes the wear and tear problems caused by prior art methods by placing the digital information in the space reserved for analog soundtrack information, which traditionally is not touched by transport rollers or pressure plates. This invention describes a method by which digital information is simultaneously recorded with the analog track in the same area occupied by the present analog track by utilizing the techniques of spectral processing and digital bit manipulation. Thus, maximum separation and minimal interference can be achieved between the digital and analog tracks.

Combination digital and analog soundtrack system and method

The present invention is a sound light assembly for reading encoded information on a film utilizing cyan, magenta and yellow color dyes rather than silver emulsion, that may be used with existing projection equipment. The invention comprises at least one narrow spectrum LED array of a plurality of LED die that produce high intensity illumination with very little infrared energy, a current regulating device, compensation resistors for correcting any variations between the individual LED die intensity and an immersion lens for redirecting the wide LED output pattern into a small cone of light. Each LED array has a peak energy that coincides with the maximum density of a corresponding color dye layer.
