A spill-proof platter apparatus is arranged to minimize spillage of items supported thereon during transport and use. The platter apparatus employs connector fixtures secured to a holder plate at one or more locations in a predetermined pattern. Receivers taking the form of beverage container braces, plates, bowls, and the like are removably engaged to the connector fixtures to locate beverage and food related items at a fixed position of the platter apparatus.

A helmet assembly includes dedicated features that are configured to matingly engage with a mating structure attached to a distinct accessory unit. The corresponding mating configurations enable the operable securement of one or more of such distinct accessory units to the helmet body.

A jaw piece is attachable to a base edge of the helmet. The jaw piece and a portion of the base edge of the helmet define a user viewing window. A first face shield is pivotable between an open position and a closed position extending across the viewing window. A seal is provided to engage with a perimeter of the viewing window when the first face shield is in the closed position. The attaching assembly for attaching the first face shield comprises a helmet cam having first helmet cam surfaces configured to releasably attach the first face shield to the protective helmet system and second helmet cam surfaces configured to releasably attach a second face shield to the protective helmet. The attaching assembly generates a first biasing force to bias the seal toward the perimeter of the viewing window when the first face shield is in the closed position.

A replaceable lens attachment system for respiratory devices and methods of use. The replaceable lens attachment system includes a face shield having rotatable attachment members and a replaceable lens. The rotatable attachment members include cams and flanges. The attachment system may further comprise a helmet respirator with support elements disposed thereon. The method includes bowing the lens and inserting it into the frame. The rotatable attachment members are rotated to urge the lens into the frame and cover the frame. The flanges and support elements provide impact resistance to the lens.

A suspension system for a helmet comprising a crown support assembly having a center portion and a plurality of strap portions extending radially from the center portion. The suspension system further comprises a headband and a plurality of connectors, wherein at least one of the plurality of connectors comprises an anchor portion for attaching the suspension system to a helmet, a first support member extending from the anchor portion and attached to one of the plurality of strap portions, a second support member spaced from the first support member, extending from the anchor portion, and attached to the headband, and a spacing member extending from one of the first and second support members toward the other of the first and second support members. The connector may be a single piece, and may be a molded piece. The connector may also comprise at least one more spacing member extending from one of the first and second support members toward the other of the first and second support members.

A jaw piece is attachable to a base edge of the helmet. The jaw piece and a portion of the base edge of the helmet define a user viewing window. A first face shield is pivotable between an open position and a closed position extending across the viewing window. A seal is provided to engage with a perimeter of the viewing window when the first face shield is in the closed position. The attaching assembly for attaching the first face shield comprises a helmet cam having first helmet cam surfaces configured to releasably attach the first face shield to the protective helmet system and second helmet cam surfaces configured to releasably attach a second face shield to the protective helmet. The attaching assembly generates a first biasing force to bias the seal toward the perimeter of the viewing window when the first face shield is in the closed position and a second biasing force to bias the first face shield away from the jaw piece when in the open position.

A face seal assembly for respirators comprising a generally U-shaped frame having a bottom portion and first and second side portions spaced from each other and extending in a generally upward direction from the bottom portion. The assembly further includes a first face seal segment attached to the bottom portion at a point closer to the second side portion than the first side portion and to the first side portion at a point above the bottom portion, and a second face seal segment attached to the bottom portion at a point closer to the first side portion than the second side portion and to the second side portion at a point above the bottom portion. The first and second face seal segments may each include an elastic piece. Further, at least a portion of the first face seal segment may extend beyond the elastic piece of the first face seal segment to form a first face seal flap and at least a portion of the second face seal segment may extend beyond the elastic piece of the second face seal segment to form a second face seal flap. The first and second face seal segments may be made of cloth, which may be nonwoven fabric, a woven fabric, a flame-retardant material, or an elastic material. The cloth of the first and second face seal segments may also be nonporous to prevent the movement of air through the cloth.

Face shield with protective lens

A container for transporting and storing vessels containing hazardous liquids and a method for making such a container. The container has a cylindrical housing and a cap that screws into the mouth of the housing and is locked by a latch. When the cap is screwed into place, an elastomeric sealing ring on the cap is compressed against the housing to provide a liquid-tight seal between the housing and cap. Interlocking hook-shaped members that project from the housing and from a central location of the latch act as a fulcrum on which the latch can be pivoted. Under the bias of a serpentine tongue, a locking member that projects from an end of the latch protrudes through a bore in the housing and is adapted to be received by a hole in the cap, thus locking the cap until the other end of the lever is depressed to disengage the locking member from the hole of the cap. The hole in the cap is drilled at a position such that the locking member fits into the hole when the cap has been sufficiently screwed into the housing to provide a liquid-tight seal between the cap and housing, yet not so tight as to damage the threaded portions or make it unduly difficult to unscrew the cap.

The novel respiratory mask has a soft, compliant facepiece to which is permanently sealed a relatively thin, rigid insert. The insert has swept back cheek portions, each formed with an aperture at which a filter cartridge is snapped into place through an opening in the facepiece. Adjacent said opening, the facepiece has a rigid which is bent over and stretched outwardly by the cartridge to create a hermetic seal. Each filter cartridge is asymmetric and swept back to shift the center of gravity inwardly toward the wearer's head, thus making the mask seem to be lighter to a wearer than is a conventional respiratory mask of equal weight which has a center of gravity in front of the wearer's head. Fitted over an annular flange around a central aperture of the insert is a harness attachment. Because the insert and harness attachment can be lightweight, the mask can be lighter in weight than are prior masks having filters of equal weight. The novel respiratory mask can be of low cost, thus making it economical to be discarded after each use.

An automatic switchover valve is described having a unique venting system whereby any areas which may cause a buildup in pressure during shuttling are normally vented to atmosphere. The shuttle is of a simple, easy to manufacture design having a central inwardly tapered portion which allows communication with internal parts of the valve to atmosphere. The valve also features sealing means which seal against moving surfaces without being subjected to rubbing on sharp surfaces or orifices, thus prolonging seal life.
