Devices, systems and methods for performing maintenance in Data over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) network CPE devices and for improving recovery to a normal operating state from maintenance are provided. The devices, systems and methods provide for entering a standby mode for an electronic device for a duration of a maintenance period. A currently-used RF communication channel frequency of the electronic device is stored as a last known channel frequency into a memory. RF communication channel operation between the electronic device and an upstream content distribution device is suspended for the duration of the maintenance period. After the maintenance period, the last known channel frequency is used to reestablish a communication connection between the electronic device and the upstream content distribution device.

A system for removing snow and ice from a roof of a vehicle includes a piece of heavy equipment having at least one arm capable of raising and lowering, and a rotating brush assembly coupled to the at least one arm of the piece of heavy equipment to remove snow and ice from the roof of the vehicle. The rotating brush assembly includes a rotating brush, and a frame including a first portion configured to secure the rotating brush, and a second portion coupled to the first portion and configured to be secured to an apparatus capable of raising and lowering the frame. The first portion of the frame is configured to orient the rotating brush at an angle with respect of a direction of travel of the vehicle. A method of removing snow from a roof of a vehicle is further disclosed.

A tubular assembly to engage a leaking pipe under water includes an insert, a triangular shaped front guide, an outer annular sleeve, and a fluid supply assembly. The insert is hallow, tubular in shape and construction, and includes a first end, second end and an exterior surface containing a plurality of inflatable bladders and flanges. The front guide attaches to the first end of the insert, and includes a retarder tube to collect fluid from the leaking pipe. The outer annular sleeve is sized to surround both the insert and the leaking pipe, and includes retaining bolts capable of engaging the leaking pipe. The fluid supply assembly fills each inflatable bladder and includes a supply line, a distribution tube, a plurality of feed lines that communicates with each inflatable bladder via an injector, and check valves placed between each inflatable bladder and each feed line.

Device for reducing deep sea off-shore oil pipe leaks and related method of use

A case apparatus attachable to a portable device enabling the storage and transport of a variety of articles. The apparatus is optimally configured with releasable components enabling interchange of various features including those which facilitate attachment to the device allowing a single case implementation to securely fit various device implementations. The apparatus includes a large utility panel which receives attachment of all other case components, smaller utility panels which receive attachment of various articles, compartment enclosures which cover the smaller utility panels while allowing easy access to their contents, a large presentation panel to cover and conceal the entire case assembly and contained contents but having openings to allow access to the compartment enclosures and either a strap and clasp retention assembly to bind the case around the device or a clip fastening assembly which attaches to corresponding fittings on an adapted device to fasten the case to the device.

A laptop computer outdoor protector attached to a laptop computer support surface for protecting a laptop computer during outdoor operation with the monitor disposed vertically to reduce glare from sunlight or other high intensity ambient light and to protect the laptop computer from wind, rain, snow or other objects such as tennis balls or golf balls. The protector may also be folded and stored while connected to the top of the laptop support surface when not in use.

The present invention is a device for assisting users in tying their shoelaces properly. The device will help users tie bow-type knots by securing the initial crossover knot in place while the complete bow-type knot is being tied. The device can be used by children learning how to tie shoelace knots or by any person who is having difficulty tying shoelaces.

Shoelace knot assisting device

A proportional flow valve wherein a solenoid assembly moves an armature assembly towards a valve seat in proportion to the flow of current through the solenoid assembly. The armature assembly abuttingly engages a seal to hold the seal away from the valve seat at a distance correspondingly proportionally related to the applied current. In this manner, the seal is movable towards and away from the valve seat among a fully open position, a closed position, and partially open positions therebetween. A spring assembly biases the seal towards the valve seat and, when the solenoid assembly is energized, the armature assembly allows the spring assembly to seat the seal against the valve seat to place it in the closed position.

Proportional flow valve

A safety needle assembly includes a needle having a longitudinal axis, a length, a pointed distal end, a proximal end and a passageway therethrough. The assembly includes a hub having a longitudinal axis, a proximal end, a distal end and an outside surface with an outside diameter. The hub has an axial opening through it for receiving the needle so that the distal end of the needle projects outwardly. The hub has a circumferential groove in the outside surface and a raised annulus located proximally to the groove. The assembly includes a shield with an open end, a closed end, a sidewall with a longitudinal slot extending from the open end toward the closed end. The shield has a first position exposing the needle and a second position wherein the shield obstructs unintentional access to the needle. The shield has a mounting for holding the shield onto the hub with a first portion having an opening for placement on the hub at the groove. The opening has at least one inward projection sized to fit within the groove and rotatably hold the mounting on the hub. The mounting attaches to the shield with a hinge opposite the slot, so that when the slot is moved from the first position to the second position, the slot provides clearance for the needle. The shield further includes at least one lug to engage the annulus and lock the shield in the second position

Shielded needle assembly

A body fluid collection assembly includes a tube having an outside surface, an open end and a closed end forming a chamber having an inside wall for holding a body fluid, the tube has a raised annulus at the open end. The assembly includes a closure with a shield having a top, an opening therethrough and a cavity for receiving the open end of the tube. The cavity has an inside surface having at least one protuberance projecting inwardly from the inside surface so that when the open end of the tube is in the cavity, the protuberance engages said annulus retaining said shield on the tube. The assembly includes a sealing element having a top surface and a lower flange and a gas barrier member bonded to the lower flange to form a primary seal with the inside wall of the tube and a secondary seal at the open end of the tube. The assembly further includes a plug housing having a passage and a resilient plug mounted in the passage, and elements for releasably mounting the plug housing on the shield.

Combination stopper-shield closure

A combination stopper and shield closure for sealing the open end of an evacuated body fluid collection tube to retain the vacuum therein. The stopper is retained within a central aperture in the shield by means of an upper and lower flange, the upper flange having a convex surface for directing residue body fluid away from the center of the flange to reduce contamination. The closure also includes a gas-barrier bonded to the stopper and/or shield to increase the vacuum seal and cam followers extending from the bottom of the shield to interact with cams on the outer surface of the tube to facilitate closure twist-off. In addition, the closure includes flexible tabs around the bottom of the shield to prevent the tube/closure assembly from being pushed out of a needle holder during body fluid collection.

A combination stopper and shield closure for sealing the open end of an evacuated body fluid collection tube to retain the vacuum therein. The stopper is retained within a central aperture in the shield by an upper and lower flange, the upper flange having a convex surface for directing residue body fluid away from the center of the flange to reduce contamination. The closure also includes a gas-barrier bonded to the stopper and/or shield to increase the vacuum seal and cam followers extending from the bottom of the shield to interact with cams on the outer surface of the tube to facilitate closure twist-off. In addition, the closure includes flexible tabs around the bottom of the shield to prevent the tube/closure assembly from being pushed out of a needle holder during body fluid collection.

A protective barrier assembly for shielding a piercing element such as a pointed needle cannula or blunt ended cannula during or after use of a medical implement. The piercing element includes a longitudinal axis, a length, a distal end which may be pointed or blunt, a proximal end and a passageway therethrough. The assembly may include a hub configured for mounting to a medical implement such as a syringe or evacuated tube holder and having an axial opening through it for receiving the needle so that the distal end of the needle projects outwardly. The assembly also includes a shield with an open end, a closed end, and a sidewall portion with a longitudinal slot extending from the open end toward the closed end. The shield has a first position exposing the needle and a second position wherein the shield obstructs unintentional access to the needle. The shield may be mounted to the hub by a hinge opposite the slot, so that when the slot is moved from the first position to the second position, the slot provides clearance for the needle. A retaining and/or locking mechanism may be incorporated as part of the shield or made integral with the hinge so as to retain/lock the shield in the second position.
