An internal heat exchanger assembly for an air conditioning system, having a housing defining a cylindrical with opposing ends. The ends are sealed with end caps having inlets/outlets. A helical coil tube is coaxially disposed within the cylindrical cavity, in which the helical coil includes two tube ends extending in opposing directions and exiting the cylindrical cavity through tube ports provided in the end caps. A twisted elongated strip is coaxially disposed within the cylindrical cavity extending from the first end to the second end. The twisted elongated strip includes a plurality of radially extending fingers adapted to engage the helical coil to maintain the helical coil in a predetermined position.

Internal heat exchanger assembly

An internal heat exchanger assembly for an air conditioning system, having a substantial cylindrical cavity in which a helical coil tube is coaxially disposed within the cylindrical cavity. A bleed valve assembly is incorporated into the helical coiled tube, in which the bleed valve assembly is adapted to open at a predetermined differential pressure between the high pressure side and low pressure side of the internal heat exchanger. The bleed valve selectively bleeds refrigerant from the high pressure side to the low pressure side, thereby increasing the pressure and mass flow rate of the refrigerant to the suction side of a compressor.

An exhaust gas heat recovery (EGHR) heat exchanger, for recovering waste heat from the hot exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine, having a housing and a cylindrical body disposed within the housing. The cylindrical body defines a central passageway and together with the housing defines an annular passageway for the flow of hot exhaust gases. A bypass means is disposed within the central passageway and adapted to selectively by-pass at least a portion of the exhaust gas from the central passageway to the annular passageway. The EGHR heat exchanger also includes at least one fluid tube extending along a tube axis and having at least one lobe extending the length of the tube thereby defining a lobed tube. The lobed tube is twisted about the tube axis forming a twisted lobed tube which is then coiled about the longitudinal axis within the annular exhaust gas passageway.

An air conditioning system having an improved internal heat exchanger (IHX) assembly. The IHX assembly includes an elongated cavity for low pressure refrigerant flow from an evaporator and an interior tube disposed within the cavity for high pressure refrigerant flow from a condenser, and a pressure equalization passage between the low and high pressure sides. The passage is large enough to allow pressures to equalize between the condenser and evaporator while the air conditioning system is inactive, so as to prevent the pressure differential that would otherwise enable the loss of refrigerant oil from the compressor, and small enough not to effect the operation of the air conditioning system. The pressure equalization passage may be a by-pass valve assembly having a reed portion that is normally open when the air conditioning system is inactive and closed when the air conditioning system is active for maximum cooling efficiency.

Air conditioning system having an improved internal heat exchanger

An air conditioning system including an evaporator having a manifold and a plurality of tubes extending downward in a vertical direction from the manifold. The evaporator defines at least one PCM tank engaging the manifold for storing a phase change material. When operating in a first operating mode, heat is transferred from the phase change material to the refrigerant to freeze and cool the phase change material. When operating in a second operating mode, heat is transferred from the refrigerant to the frozen phase change material to condense the refrigerant. The condensed refrigerant falls downwardly through the tubes and receives heat from a flow of air to cool the air and evaporate the refrigerant. The evaporated refrigerant rises upwardly back to the low pressure of the cold manifold.

The invention provides for an orientation insensitive heat exchanger assembly for cooling an electronic device comprising a hermetically sealed housing defining a boiling chamber and two condensing chambers. A partition is disposed in the boiling chamber and defines two sets of alternating channels extending in overlapping relationship to one another and with one set of alternating channels open to one of the condensing chambers and the other set of alternating channels open to the other condensing chamber for sealing the condensing chambers from one another. Coolant is maintained in each of the condensing chambers. In operation, if the thermosiphon is tilted with one side lower than the other, the channels open to the lower side are empty of coolant into the lower condensing chamber while the channels open to the opposite upper side hold the coolant over the entire boiling chamber aligning with an electronic device to continue cooling.

A fluid pump assembly for pumping hydraulic fluid through a controlled brake system includes a housing defining a pumping chamber. The chamber communicates with a hydraulic fluid circuit that operates the controlled brake system. A piston plunger is disposed within the chamber with a shaft affixed to the plunger. An electric coil is affixed to a casing having the shaft inserted therethrough. The coil is coaxially aligned with the shaft. The coil generates a magnetic field through an armature affixed to a distal end of the shaft disposed outside the chamber when receiving electrical current. The magnetic field draws the armature towards the casing for pumping hydraulic fluid from the chamber.

Low cost, single stroke, electromagnetic pre-charge pump for controlled brake systems

An efficient, cost effective eccentric bearing assembly is provided for use in a multiple piston hydraulic pump. The eccentric bearing assembly includes a roller bearing having an annular race. The race includes a groove around its outside perimeter. The groove engagably receives parti-spherical faces of a pair of opposed pistons. The parti-spherical face evenly loads the race and rollers as the race reciprocates with the eccentric. The invention avoids the use of rotating thrust bearings and instead axially supports the piston clip with stationary surfaces. Placement of the parti-spherical face or an optional conical face, at the interface between the pistons and the grooved race maintains the sliding contact point for piston intake strokes near the center of the face.

Eccentric bearing assembly

A vehicle braking system is provided. In a preferred embodiment the system has an actuator frame with a bore fluidly connected to the wheel brake and to a master cylinder via a solenoid valve. A piston, mounted within the bore, is operationally associated with a non-rotative nut which is threadably engaged by a power screw. To maximize reaction speed, a high efficiency thread is utilized between the power screw and the non-rotative nut. Therefore, pressure within the actuator can back drive the piston. To prevent backdriving of the piston there is a spring locking mechanism.

Anti-lock braking system

A data acquisition system which utilizes a fixed frequency anti-aliasing filter and an analog-to-digital converter which operates at a fixed sample rate and a Fourier transform generator and a transform truncator and an inverse transform generator so as to provide sample data output at rates lower than the analog-to-digital converter sampling rate. By using multiple transform truncators and multiple inverse transform generators which simultaneously operate, multiple sample data outputs can be obtained which are free of aliasing phenomena.

An anti-lock braking system (ABS) for a vehicle is provided which in a preferred embodiment includes a controller for signalling the system to an ABS mode, a master cylinder for supplying fluid, an actuator having a bore with a first port connecting the bore with the master cylinder and a second port spaced from the first port connecting the bore with a brake, a first check valve separating the bore into a first chamber exposed to the first port and a second chamber exposed to the second port, and an orifice restricting flow between the brake and the master cylinder via the first and second chambers. A piston is mounted in the second chamber, the piston in a fully actuated position open the first check valve. A threaded driver translates the piston and is powered by a motor. A parallel path connects the master cylinder with the brake parallel to the first and second chambers of the actuator. A solenoid valve within the parallel path is governed by the controller for isolating the master cylinder from the brake when the system is in an ABS mode of operation. A second check valve allows fluid flow from the brake to the master cylinder when pressure within the master cylinder is lower than pressure within the brake.

A vehicle anti-lock braking system is provided. In a preferred embodiment the system has an actuator frame with a bore fluidly connected to the wheel brake and to a master cylinder via a solenoid valve. A new type of immersible fault detector which includes a magnetic coupling link that can be coupled to a power line and a detector receives energy proportional to the load currents flowing in the power line and energizes a light source. A fiber-optics light waveguide or cable is connected to the detector so as to detect the light generated by the detector and has its opposite connected to an indicator which is remote from the detector and is electrically insulated therefrom so that the condition of the power line can be determined.

An improved control circuit is provided for an automatic dishwasher having a reversing relay with valve arrangement which supplies cavitation air to the fluid distribution system to reduce the energy level at which the liquid is sprayed into the wash chamber to achieve a GENTLE wash and rinse cycle for fine china and crystal. The reversing relay solenoid armature operates, in conjunction with a start relay, to provide a primary function of reversing the direction of rotation of the motor between wash and drain periods while providing an auxiliary function of opening its associated valve to admit cavitation air to the recirculation pump during a GENTLE wash and rinse cycle and closing the valve during the REGULAR wash and rinse cycle.

An automatic ice maker mechanism includes a face cam on a timing motor driven disc formed with a plurality of concentric cam tracks. The disc is supported on one side of a circuit board, said board having a plurality of flexible blade switches cantilever supported on its other side. The mechanism further includes a plurality of slidable cam follower plunger pins each of which is contacted by an associated blade switch such that each pin is biased into spaced follower relation with one of the cam tracks. In operation the circuit board control circuit interconnects ice maker cycling means with the motor to initiate rotation of the disc whereby the cam track profile effects predetermined movement of its associated pin in one direction causing the contact on an associated blade switch to open with its stationary contact. Continued rotation of the disc results in the blade switch moving its follower pin in the opposite direction reclosing the contacts such that selected functions of the ice maker are performed in a predetermined sequence.
