A domestic clothes washer incorporating a system for dispensing predetermined amounts of liquid treating agents wherein an add-on storage tank reservoir is mounted on the washer control console. User operated valves provide gravity flow of the agents from the reservoir into dispensing vessels on the console. The vessels include calibrated viewing windows allowing the user to manually fill the vessels with wash agents to selected levels prior to each washing load for subsequent automatic emptying and passage into the washer during predetermined operations. Means are also provided to flush at least one of the emptied dispensing vessels to the washer drain by diverting a portion of the washer rinse water therethrough.

Automatic treating agent dispenser for washing appliance

A refrigerant control valve for an air conditioning system in which a flow passage is formed between closely spaced poles of an electro-magnet which may be selectively magnetized by energizing a coil to produce a magnetic field through the pole members and across the flow passage. This attracts a quantity of small iron particles which are mixed with and circulate with the refrigerant and lubricating oil. The accumulation of iron particles on the surfaces of the pole members decreases the flow area between the poles and controls refrigerant flow.

Control valve

A fluid control valve for a fluid system, such as an air conditioning system, in which a flow passage is defined by a radially flexible tubular member so that the flow area of the valve therethrough is variable. The tubular member and an encircling magnetic field producing means define an annular space therebetween containing a plurality of small iron particles which are attracted to an intermediate portion of the annular space when a magnetic field is produced, thereby causing inward movement of the flexible tubular member to decrease the valve's flow area.

Magnetic control valve

A power-operated vertically adjustable shelf is supported by shelf arms in cantilevered fashion at the rear of an appliance cabinet by a gear and roller on each shelf arm, with each gear and roller vertically offset engaging a vertically extending toothed rack and a roller track. Electric drive means, carried by the cabinet, powers a vertically extending drive shaft of which the torque is transmitted to the shelf operating gear through a normally disengaged clutch which is engaged by user operating means adjacent the front of each shelf whereby powered vertical movement of the shelves is achieved. A dual position selector shelf switch is operable upon opening the door to permit the user to select up or down power shelf movement with the shelf switch being neutralized upon closing of the cabinet door.

Power-operating vertically adjustable cantilever shelves for appliance

A refrigerant control valve for an air conditioning system including a flow passage formed by a tubular member of non-magnetizable material encircled by an annularly shaped electromagnetic coil. The electromagnet is housed in a shell having an inner cylindrical wall located adjacent the tubular member and which extends from one end of the shell toward the second end and terminating therebetween to form an end surface. The second end of the housing shell has a threaded opening which encircles the tubular member and into which a calibration nut or member extends. The calibration member has an end surface which is spaced closely from the end surface of the cylindrical wall by rotation of the calibration member to produce a desired magnetic field therebetween when the electromagnetic coil is energized. The magnetic field across the end surfaces attracts an accumulation of small iron particles which are mixed with the refrigerant to the inner wall of the tubular member in a location near the spaced end surfaces and thereby restricts fluid flow through the tubular member.
