A hybrid pillow includes a cushion material defining a recess. A coil panel is positioned within the recess of the cushion material with the coil panel formed of a plurality of coil springs, an upper fabric layer, and a lower fabric layer. The upper fabric layer and the lower fabric layer are joined between the plurality of coil springs and along peripheral edges of the first coil panel. A gel layer is also positioned within the recess of the cushion material and over the coil panel. A method of manufacturing the pillow includes dispensing a liquid gel in a mold, positioning a coil panel in the mold and on top of the liquid gel, dispensing a foam precursor in the mold, and foaming the foam precursor to form a cushion material that is secured to the coil panel.

Molded hybrid pillow

A hybrid pillow includes a first coil panel and a second coil panel which are joined along peripheral edges to form an inner shell defining a gap therebetween. The first coil panel is formed of a plurality of coil springs, an upper fabric layer, and a lower fabric layer, with the upper fabric layer and the lower fabric layer joined between the plurality of coil springs and along peripheral edges of the first coil panel. The second coil panel is formed of a second plurality of coil springs, a second upper fabric layer, and a second lower fabric layer, with the second upper fabric layer and the second lower fabric layer joined between the plurality of coil springs and along peripheral edges of the second coil panel. A support material disposed in the gap of the inner shell, and one or more additional layers disposed about the inner shell.

Hybrid pillow

A reversible or hybrid mattress topper includes a first foam plate having a first density, a second foam plate having a second density different than the first density of the first foam plate, and a spring panel that is disposed between the first foam plate and the second foam plate. The spring panel includes a plurality of coil springs positioned between an upper fabric layer and a lower fabric layer, with the upper and lower fabric layers joined together. An insulating layer extends along an outside surface of each of the first foam plate and the second foam plate.

A reverse coil head coil and innerspring has a generally cylindrical and helical wire form coil body and opposing coil ends which terminate on opposite sides of a reference plane that passes through the coil body. The reverse coil head coils are interconnected in a matrix to form an innerspring wherein only one terminal end of each coil is located at a perimeter of the innerspring. Variations in the number and pitch of helical turns of the coil body are also disclosed.

Innerspring dampening foam inserts are disclosed in various combinations with mattress innersprings having a plurality of helical form coils interconnected in an array in which the coils are generally aligned in rows and columns, each of the coils having a generally cylindrical coil body formed by helical turns of wire with openings between each of the helical turns of wire, and first and second ends to the coil body also formed by the wire, each of the coil bodies being spaced apart in the array. At least one innerspring insert is inserted into an innerspring in spaces or channels between the spaced apart coils. The innerspring dampening inserts, which are preferably made of foam, may have a generally H-shaped configuration with upper and lower parallel lateral members and a transverse member that extends between and bisects the upper and lower lateral members. In another embodiment, the innerspring inserts may be generally T-shaped having a lower lateral member, a vertical member which is perpendicular to and bisects the lower lateral member and a lateral extension which extends outward from one side of the vertical member. The innerspring inserts may create or define zones or regions of the innerspring which have different support characteristics from other zones or regions by dampening or altering the spring rates and support characteristics of the innerspring in the areas or regions where the insert are located. The innerspring inserts may also be placed at or near the border or edges of the innerspring to provide increased stability in the perimeter or edge areas of the support surface of a mattress.

Coil

Innerspring coils for innersprings for mattresses and other reflexive support structures, have generally helical coil bodies and at least one non-helical segment or step which extends between one or both axial ends of the coil body and one or both of the coil ends. The step or steps may be linear or non-linear, and parallel to or angularly disposed with respect to a longitudinal axis of the coil body. When located proximate to a coil end, the step extends out of the plane in which the coil end lies. One or more steps may alternatively be formed intermediate to helical turns of the helical coil body.
