A sectional planter is provided with an interior volume defining a planter portion with a flange and a tongue and groove for positively connecting the sectional planter to at least one additional sectional planter, where the tongue and groove connection allows for easy removal of the sectional planter from the base of a tree or post after assembly. The sectional planter can hold a variety of plants, shrubs, bushes or other floral or decorative items. The sectional planter may be combined with one or more additional sectional planters to form a geometric shaped planter. The geometric shapes formed with two or more interconnected sectional planters may be a circle, an oval, a square, a star pattern, a rectangle, a triangle, a trapezoid, or a parallelogram. In at least one embodiment two or more sectional planters are combined to form to encircle a tree.

Sectional planter with tongue and groove interlocking device

A diagonal brace connector and method is disclosed. The connector includes an upper planar member and a lower planar member connected by a rigid webbing. A center screw boss is disposed continuously and laterally along the webbing. The screw boss is adapted to receive a screw fastened through a structural member and into the screw boss. A corner screw boss is along the corner between the webbing and the lower flange. The corner boss is similarly designed to accept a screw fastened through a structural member and into the screw boss. A pair of parallel grooves are formed in the webbing to provide a visual guide for the locations to install permanent fasteners. The alignment grooves are disposed such that the screw bosses of adjoining members do not interfere with the permanent fasteners.

An adjustable cap has a fully removable adjustment strap that may be releasably secured to both sides of the gap in the back of a cap for accommodating any size user. The adjustment strap includes at least one graphic display that is centerable across the gap in the back side of the cap.

In a machine which cleans or buffs a floor by rotating a cleaning or buffing pad against the floor at high speed, simplified means are disclosed for supplying a controlled amount of cleaning fluid to the floor at the center of the cleaning pad. Vacuum which is created within the pad housing by the centrifugal action of the cleaning pad draws cleaning fluid out of a reservoir and into the central region of the pad. Flow is controlled and flow rate is set by limiting atmospheric vents. There is precisely controlled flow to the center of the pad, which may be continuous or on demand, no pump or moving parts of any kind are required, and the system is self-cleaning.

Center feed dispenser for cleaning solution

A simple, compact counterweight mechanism for a lid for a sub-surface container. A straight rigid beam extends from front to rear within the container. Front portions of the beam are connected to the overlying lid, middle portions of the beam are pivotally connected to the container and rear portions of the beam are pivotally connected to a pair of rearwardly extending control arms, which are pivotally connected at their rear to a depending counterweight. A compression spring is mounted on the beam beneath the control arms, so that as the front of the lid is lifted to open the lid and pivot the lid and the front portions of the beam upwardly and rearwardly about the middle portions of the beam and pivot the rear portions of the beam, together with the control arms and the counterweight, downwardly and frontally about the middle portions of the beam, the spring keeps the pivotal connection of the counterweight and the control arms, together with the vertically aligned center of gravity of the counterweight, located rearwardly of the pivotal connection of the middle portions of the beam and the container.

The present invention contemplates a descent device including a roller having an annular groove about its contact surface, a support structure to which the roller is rotatably attached, a pinion gear rotatably attached to the support structure, a rotor disk directly coupled to the pinion gear, a braking device coupled to the support structure for controlling the speed of rotation of the rotor, a hand held actuator for activating the brake device, and a sling attached to the support structure capable of supporting a person who can control his or her descent by actuating the brake device, enabling a person to escape from a building during emergency conditions. The present invention also contemplates the combination of the above-described descent device and a vertically extending rail-like support track which is fixedly secured to the exterior of a building wall. The track is shaped substantially like an I-beam in which one edge of the I-beam includes a plurality of recesses and projections to form a rack designed to correspond with the pinion gear of the descent device, while the other edge of the I-beam is straight and smooth and is designed to correspond with the roller whose contact surface contacts the smooth edge.

Building wall descent device having a manually operated brake means

A hand operated safety device for controlling the descent of a person along a guide track affixed to the exterior face of a building wall. The descent device is clamped to the track and includes a hydraulically operated brake which can be actuated to vary the frictional force between the descent device and the track surface to control the speed of descent. The device includes a preset mechanism for applying a fixed clamping force to the track depending on the user's weight. In a second embodiment, the track is a rail of triangular cross section having a continuous rack which is engaged by a brake operated spur gear on the descent device. A user wearable harness is slung beneath the descent device for lowering the person to the ground.

Building wall descent device having manually operated brake means

A portable, remote controlled air sampler for measuring the solid, liquid, and gaseous emissions from sources such as a fossil fuel power plant, or ambient air. The sampler comprises a pump operated suction head movably mounted on a guide means for sucking a sample of air through a selected portion of an air filter strip, a motor operated translating means for translating the suction head along the guide means, and a radio operated, remote control system for selectively actuating the translating means and suction head. The preferred embodiment of the sampler is sufficiently lightweight to be suspended from a buoyant balloon six feet in diameter or less, or having a gas capacity of 115 cubic feet or less.

An apparatus which eliminates the need of digging so to expose a house sewage seepage pit in order that it may be periodically cleaned out; the apparatus consisting of equipment that can be lowered down the house sewer line and into the septic tank from where it protrudes through the outflow port into the seepage pit; the equipment including scanning equipment at the end of an extendable water pressure hose used to flush out the pit, for aligning the equipment with the port so that the hose can be aligned with the port and inserted therethrough into the seepage pit.
