A hyper-scatternet includes a first ad hoc piconet, a second ad hoc piconet and a wide area network, wherein the first and second ad hoc piconets are configured to communicate with one another via the wide area network. Each ad hoc piconet can include an application server that includes an ad hoc piconet interface that is configured to communicate with an ad hoc piconet using an ad hoc piconet protocol, and a wide area network interface that is configured to communicate with a wide area network using a wide area network protocol. The application server also includes a service manifest that is configured to determine ad hoc piconet services that are available from the ad hoc piconet via the ad hoc piconet interface, and to advertise the ad hoc piconet services to the wide area network as wide area network services via the wide area network interface.

The system allows recipients to set filter criteria for filtering instant messages, the filter criteria being selected from a database of characteristics, or registry, for senders of the instant messages. The system blocks display of the received instant message if the filter criteria are met by the characteristics of the sender.

An apparatus, a system, and a process for exchanging vehicle identification information subsequent to a collision are provided. The apparatus, system, and process include a host identification device connected to a vehicle data system of a host vehicle. At the time of collision the vehicle data system sends the host identification device a collision indication. Responsive to the collision indication, the host identification device establishes a wireless network connection with one or more responding identification devices. The host identification device further assemblies a vehicle identifier. The vehicle identifier may be based on a unique vehicle identification number provided by the vehicle data system. The host identification device exchanges vehicle identifiers with one or more responding identification devices. In addition, the host identification device may store one or more vehicle identifiers. The host identification device may transmit one or more vehicle identifiers to an authorized collection device.

A process, system, and apparatus are disclosed for mitigating access point data rate degradation with respect to a wireless communication between a wireless access point and a wireless client device. A channel assessment module is configured to assess the wireless communications, including interference signals, present on available wireless communications channels. The channel assessment module may establish quality parameters that at least partially describe the wireless communications quality of a given channel. A channel selection module is configured to select a best wireless communications channel based on the communications channel assessment. A channel connection module is configured to facilitate wireless communication between the wireless access point and the wireless client device on the best wireless communications channel.

The base further includes an adjustable ventilation interface that allows an alteration to a direction of warm air dispersing heat generated by operation of the processing hardware. The ventilation interface includes a plurality of vent openings and a mechanical controller substantially adjacent to the plurality of vent openings to adjust closure of the plurality of vent openings.
