A package for ready-prepared foods which comprises a dish adapted to contain food, said dish containing a rim flange, and a lid, heat-sealed to the rim flange, wherein the rim flange is provided with a plurality of ridges which extend around substantially the entire periphery of the dish defining a space between said ridges, said space being divided into a plurality of transverse ridges which extend across the space forming a plurality of sealing compartments which substantially eliminate sealing leakage.

Package for ready-prepared foods

The present invention relates to a method for forming a package by moulding a cardboard blank in such a manner that a margin area () of the blank, surrounding a middle portion () of the blank, is bent upwards to form side walls of the package while the middle portion forms a bottom of the package. The cardboard blank prior to moulding is provided with at least one area () of reduced bending stiffness being located in a transition zone () between the side walls and the bottom. The package is moulded from the blank so that the at least one area () of reduced bending stiffness is located in the bended areas between the side walls and the bottom and extend in the running direction of the bend. The invention further relates to a package and a package blank that can be used for forming said package.

Method for forming a package, a package and a package blank

Mold system () for manufacturing cardboard-based container, comprising movable mold half () and stationary mold half () located opposite one another. Movable mold half (), movable with respect to stationary mold half (), includes at least a core plate (), a plate-like seal ring () movable with respect to the core, and collar ring (). In a method for forming a package, a package with the shape of a container is formed of a cardboard blank, the package having a bottom and side walls extending upwards from the bottom. At the end stage of compression molding, a rim of molding material extending sideways is molded to the upper part of the side walls when the mold is kept closed in such a way that a mold cavity corresponding to the rim is formed by moving a counter surface inside the mold backwards from a surface opposite to it, after which the molding material is introduced into the mold cavity.

A mould system for manufacturing a container which includes a movable mould half and a stationary mould half which are positioned opposite to each other, wherein the movable mould half includes a core plate provided with a core, a plate-like seal ring that is movable relative to the core, a seal surface which surrounds the core, and a collar ring that is movable relative to the core and the stationary mould half includes a mould plate provided with a mould cavity and a seal surface, wherein in the mould system, a plate-like insert is connected to the seal surface of the seal ring, the insert including a recess which is in contact with a front edge of the seal surface, so that it is in flow communication with molten plastic material flowing from the direction of the collar ring.

Mould system for manufacturing a container

Method of manufacturing polymer-coated heat-sealable packaging material and sealed packages (e.g., carton, box, or bag packages for dry and liquid foods). The material includes a fiber base of packaging paper or packaging board, an outer polymeric heat sealing layer such as LDPE, and an inner polymeric water vapor barrier layer which is partly or totally formed of an amorphous cycloolefin copolymer. In the method, the cycloolefin copolymer water vapor barrier and the heat sealing layers are brought onto the fiber base by an extrusion step, and in accordance with the manufacturing method, they can be placed on one side of the fiber base or on both sides of the fiber base for achieving a moisture barrier on both sides of the package. Also, polymeric oxygen barrier layers, such as EVOH or polyamide layers, can be incorporated into the packaging material. By using the cycloolefin copolymer as an extruded water vapor barrier layer, curling of the packaging material is prevented.

Method for manufacturing heat-sealable packaging material having barrier layer; containing cycloolefin copolymer

The invention relates to a manufacturing method of a heat-sealable packaging material, a polymer-coated packaging material manufactured using the method, and a sealed package to be manufactured of the material. The packaging material comprises a fibre base, such as a packaging board (), and an inner, extruded water vapour barrier layer () on both sides, containing high-density polyethylene (HDPE), and an outer heat sealing layer (), the material of which is, for example, low-density polyethylene (LDPE). Further, polymeric oxygen barrier layers () can be incorporated in the packaging material, the material of the oxygen barrier layers being, for example, ethyl vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH) or polyamide (PA). With the HDPE layer, the permeation of water vapour is prevented to both directions, and the location of the extruded layers on both sides of the fibre base reduces the curling of the material. The packages according to the invention comprise carton, box and bag packages for dry and liquid foods.

Polymer-coated heat-sealable packaging material, method for manufacturing the same and a closed package made thereof

The invention relates to a multi-layer heat-sealable packaging material especially for food packages. In addition, objects of the invention are a food package formed of the said packaging material, a method of packaging, and the use of the material for packages. The packaging material () comprises a middle layer () of fibre material, such as cardboard; at least one polymeric protective layer () protecting the product from going bad; and polymeric heat sealing layers () preferably on both sides of the packaging material. According to the invention, the heat sealing layer () forming the inner surface of the closed package, is blended with light-absorbing pigment, such as carbon black, for protecting the product from visible light. By further blending white pigment, such as titanium dioxide, into the heat sealing layer (), a grey tint resembling an aluminium foil has been achieved for the layer. The heat sealing polymer may be low-density polyethylene (PE-LD), and an oxygen and aroma proof sealing layer () of, for example, ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH) or polyamide (PA) may be provided between it and the cardboard ().

Aluminum-colored multilayer heat-sealable packaging material

The present invention relates to a laminated packaging material suitable for use especially in heat-sealable packages for liquid food, such as milk, cream and juice cartons, and to a manufacturing method of the material, and to a food package manufactured of the material. The material comprises a core of paper or cardboard, and oxygen and aroma proof barrier layers of EVOH and polyamide. The EVOH layer and the polyamide layer are joined together directly without any intermediate adhesive layer, and the barrier layers and the core are interposed between polymeric heat-sealing layers on both sides of the material. The material is manufactured by extrusion so that at least the materials of the said barrier layers are placed against each other in a molten state and forwarded to the core in one web.
