A method and apparatus for identifying resources available at a device in a communication network. A Resource Directory Proxy node receives a first message from the device. The first message relates to a change in at least one resource available at the device. The Resource Directory Proxy then sends, to a Resource Directory node selected from a set of Resource Directory nodes, a second message. The second message includes the change in the at least one of the resources available. There is also provided a method and apparatus for providing data from the device is provided. A Mirror Proxy Proxy node receives from the device a data message that includes an identity of the device and data obtained by the device. The Mirror Proxy Proxy node selects, from a set of Mirror Proxy nodes, a Mirror Proxy node, and sends to the selected Mirror Proxy node a further data message, the further data message including the identity of the device and the data obtained by the device.

Identifying resources from a device in a communications network

Methods, sensor network monitors (), and mobile terminals () are disclosed that map a plurality of sensors () to sensor identification information provided by the mobile terminals (). A method includes receiving () stimulus characteristic information, which characterizes a stimulus provided to one of the sensors (), and an associated sensor identification information from the mobile terminal (). A response signal is received () from the sensor () responding to the stimulus. A network address of the sensor () is identified. The response signal is matched () to the stimulus characteristic information. The network address of the sensor () is associated () with the sensor identification information associated with the stimulus characteristic information matched to the response signal. The network address of the sensor () and the associated sensor identification information is provided () to a resource directory () for storage.

Sensor stimulation and response approach for mapping sensor network addresses to identification information

It is presented a method for invoking an application service in response to a tag reading by a mobile terminal. The method comprises the steps of: receiving an input message, the input message comprising tag data being associated with a tag read by the mobile terminal using local communication, the input message further comprising a recipient identifier linked to the mobile terminal; determining, using a plurality of parameters associated with the tag reading, a plurality of matching application servers, wherein conditions of a tag reading subscription for each of the matching application servers matches the plurality of parameters; and sending an invocation message to each of the matching application servers to invoke a respective application service of each of the matching application servers, the invocation message comprising the recipient identifier enabling each of the application services to send content to the user equipment and the tag data.

Method, apparatus and computer program product for invoking local communication application services

The invention relates to a technique for controlling the distribution of content items such as advertisements, news, etc., to user devices in a mobile communications network. A method embodiment of the technique is performed in a distribution control gateway of the mobile communications network and comprises the steps of receiving, from a content provider server, a target user indication indicative of one or more target user devices for presentation of a content item; accessing a provider registry for determining a provider authorization of the content provider server; accessing a user registry for determining a user authorization for receiving the content item from the content provider server; and initiating a transmission of the content item to one or more of the target user devices.

Distribution of content items to user devices in a mobile environment

It is presented a risk tag detector server for detecting risk tags, the risk tags being tags which are likely to be faulty. The risk tag detector server comprises: a tag manager interface configured to obtain a tag list comprising at least two tags to evaluate, and to obtain tag data coupled to each of the tags of the tag list; a tag selector configured to select a candidate tag to evaluate from the tag list; a tag event interface configured to obtain event data of tag usage for the candidate tag; and a fault detector configured to determine the candidate tag to be a risk tag when a first condition is satisfied, the first risk condition comprising a first criterion that the event data indicates an absence of candidate tag usage during a predetermined time period. A corresponding method and computer program are also presented.

Method, apparatus, and computer program product for detecting risk tags

It is presented a method for invoking an application service in response to a tag reading by a mobile terminal. The invention relates to techniques for controlling a pre-fetching of data in a mobile communications environment. More specifically the invention relates to controlling a pre-fetching of data items into a cache associated with a mobile terminal. A method embodiment of the invention is performed by a cache management server and comprises the steps of receiving a pre-fetching request for data items, wherein the pre-fetching request comprises a first user identification associated with the mobile terminal; obtaining, based on the first user identification, one or more second user identifications from a community database of a social network; selecting items for the pre-fetching based on the second user identifications; and providing the selected items in response to the pre-fetching request.

Pre-fetching of data in a mobile communications environment

The invention relates to a method for installing a target application on an NFC-enabled device, such as an NFC-enabled mobile phone. If the NFC-enabled device is unable to identify or find the target application associated with a Target Identifier (Target ID) in a received Generic Control record, a look-up table in which Target IDs are associated with target URIs from which installation files for the target applications of the Target IDs can be downloaded is used to retrieve the target URI of the Target ID in the received Generic Control record. One or several installation files for the target application are then downloaded from the retrieved target URI, whereupon the target application of the Target ID in the received Generic Control record is installed on the NFC-enabled device using the downloaded installation file(s).
