A pipe clamp including a substantially U-shaped upper stirrup (2) having a base section (3), two substantially linear upper arms (4.5) projecting from the base section (3) and having their end portions extending substantially parallel to each other, and a stiffening member (19) extending from one upper arm (4) to another upper arm (5) and spanning a free cross-section of the pipe clamp (1) a substantially U-shaped lower stirrup (6) having a substantially circular shape, and two lower arms (8,9), and articulated connection element (10) for pivotally connecting one of the upper arms (5) of the upper stirrup (2) with one of the lower arm (9) of the lower stirrup (6), and a locking element (13) located opposite the articulated connection element (1) for releasably connecting another of the upper arms (4) of the upper stirrup (2) with another of the lower arms (8) of the lower stirrup (6).

A mounting rail, particularly for use in building construction, is formed by an elongated rail member (2) of approximately C-shaped cross section having a rear wall (3) with spaced openings (7a-7d) therethrough and pair of side walls (4a, 4b) extending from and at substantially right angles to the rear wall (3). The side walls have free edge sections spaced from the rear wall bent inwardly towards one another and forming cross members (5a, 5b) extending generally parallel to the rear wall with the inner edges of the cross members spaced apart and forming a slot (6) extending in the elongated direction of the rail member (2). Each side wall (4a, 4b) has shaped recesses (8a, 8b) extending for the length of the rail member (2). The shaped recesses (8a, 8b) are arranged symmetrically to one another in the opposite sidewalls (4a, 4b) and have a depth of (d) which does not exceed the width (b) of the cross members (5a, 5b) defining the slot (6).

A fastening element for a C-shaped rail (30) including a rail nut (2) insertable through the rail opening (35) into the interior of the rail (30) when longitudinal sides (6, 7) of the rail nut (2) extend parallel to the longitudinal direction of the rail (30), and pivotable in the interior of the rail (3) so that a longitudinal extent (1) of the rail nut (2), which is larger than the width (w) of the slot-like opening (35), would overlap the opening (35); and a rail clip (3) overlapping the rail nut (2) at least in some areas and spaced from the rail nut by an axial distance (d), which is reduced upon clamping the free ends (33, 34) of the shoulders (31, 32) the rail clip (3) being formed as one-piece with the rail nut and being connected with the rail nut (2) by a connection link attached to an edge of the rail nut (2) so that with the longitudinal sides (6, 7) of the rail nut (2) extending parallel to the longitudinal extent of the opening (35), it would engage the free end (33) of one should (31) and, with the longitudinal sides (6, 7) of the rail nut (2) being pivoted with respect to the longitudinal extent of the opening (35), it would engage the free end (34) of the opposite shoulder.
