A 5G network includes an access network (AN), a 5G Core (5GC), one or more campus network components each configured to run 5GC software associated to a campus network, and one or more public network components each configured to run 5GC software associated to a public network. The 5GC comprises a central cloud having functionally separated instances, including: a public 5GC instance configured to host the public network realized as a network slice; a private 5GC instance configured to host one or more campus networks, wherein the one or more campus networks are realized as Network Slices; and a data layer instance configured to host Unified Data Repository (UDR) functionality. Unified Data Management (UDM) functions of both 5GC instances are connected to the data layer instance. A Network Slice Selection Function (NSSF) contains the information about network slices present in both 5GC instances.

A communication network comprises a plurality of subnetworks including a first subnetwork and a second subnetwork. Each subnetwork is assigned at least one predefined Quality of Service class according to at least one Service Level Agreement. The Quality of Service classes of the subnetworks are managed by a central Quality of Service manager. The communication network further comprises a radio access network with a plurality of radio access entities. A method for controlling radio access resources in the communication network includes: transmitting, by the central Quality of Service manager, information relating to a Quality of Service class of the first subnetwork to a first radio access entity for radio access to the first subnetwork.

A radio communication network includes: at least one base station configured to transmit a data flow to at least one user equipment by using radio resources scheduled to the at least one base station for transmission of the data flow; a radio scheduler configured to schedule the radio resources to the at least one base station according to a scheduling metric; a monitoring entity, configured to monitor performance information from the at least one base station; a controller, configured to adjust the scheduling metric of the radio scheduler based on the monitored performance information of the monitoring entity; and a database configured to store a plurality of scheduling metrics. The controller is configured to replace the scheduling metric with one of the scheduling metrics stored in the database or with a combination of scheduling metrics stored in the database.

A radio communication network includes: a network orchestration entity, configured to orchestrate a plurality of network resources to set up at least one logical network of a plurality of logical networks based on a logical network-specific service level agreement (SLA); a radio scheduler, configured to schedule radio resources of the at least one logical network based on a scheduling strategy; a monitoring entity, configured to monitor performance information from the at least one logical network; and a controller, configured to: determine an SLA metric for the at least one logical network based on the monitored performance information from the at least one logical network; detect a threshold violation of the SLA metric with respect to a set of thresholds associated with the at least one logical network; and adjust the scheduling strategy based on the detected threshold violation.

A method for coordinated scheduling with transmission point blanking of a plurality of radio resources includes: a) calculating a first metric value for each combination of a mobile station of a network and each of a plurality of radio resources; b) calculating a second metric value for each combination under the assumption that at least one of the at least two base stations which is not connected to the respective mobile station using a concerned radio resource is muted; c) selecting the highest calculated metric value; d) determining whether or not to assign the radio resource to the mobile station corresponding to the highest metric value; e) setting the other metric values corresponding to the radio resource to a predefined metric value; and f) repeating steps c) to e) for the next highest metric value until all metric values are set to the predefined metric value.

Method and system for coordinated radio resource assignment

A method for allocating communication resources for communication between a transmitter and a receiver in a multi-user cellular communication system, wherein the communication resources are divided into frequency sub-bands, includes: classifying, based on a configuration parameter, part of the frequency sub-bands as frequency-sub-bands for carrying bursty traffic; and using the remaining part of the frequency sub-bands as frequency-sub-bands for carrying long-term transmission traffic. Method and system for improvement of handover quality in mobile radio systems

A method for optimizing handover behavior in a mobile radio network includes: a) determining, during a first period of time, the handover behavior of at least one base station of the mobile radio network, with current configuration values of the handover parameters of the at least one base station; b) evaluating a current configuration of the at least one base station based on the determined handover behavior during the first period of time; c1) in the case that step b) does not indicate a need for optimization: repeating steps a) and b); or c2) in the case that step b) indicates a need for optimization: setting an optimization parameter A to a maximum value Amax; and d) modifying configuration values of at least one handover parameter.
