A tool for engaging drive flanks of a threaded nut has a tool body with a central cavity. Cam surfaces are formed in an inner wall of the central cavity. A retainer secured within the central cavity has an outward-facing slot. A jaw for each of the cam surfaces has a curved outer side in contact with one of the cam surfaces and a drive surface on an inner side for engaging one of the drive flanks of the nut. A foot extends inward from a lower end of each of the jaws into the slot to retain the jaws within the central cavity. Rotating the tool body relative to the jaws moves the drive surfaces of the jaws from a retracted position to a gripping position in engagement with the drive flanks of the nut.

A tool for unscrewing a stud has a body with cam surfaces in a bore. A recess extends through the cam surfaces. Jaws have outer sides in engagement with one of the cam surfaces and inner sides containing teeth. An outward protruding rib on the outer side of each of the jaws inserts into the recess. Rotation of the body in a first direction causes the cam surfaces to slide in the first direction along the outer sides of the jaws, pushing the jaws to a gripping position. Rotation of the body in a second direction causes the cam surfaces to slide in the second direction along the outer sides of the jaws, enabling the jaws to move to a retracted position.

Stud removal tool having jaws with retaining ribs

A tool has a body with an axially extending cavity containing partly cylindrical receptacles. Each receptacle has an opening facing inward toward the axis. A partly cylindrical cam portion of a jaw fits within each of the receptacles. Each jaw has a workpiece engaging portion protruding from the body. Each of the cam portions has a pair of flat flanks that protrude inward from the opening of one of the receptacles. The flat flanks intersect each other at an inner corner. Each flank abuts one of the flanks of another of the cam members. Each of the engaging portions has an outer surface configured to engage a hole within the workpiece. An increment of rotation of the body relative to the jaws causes the inner corners of the flanks to move outward from the axis and the outer surfaces of the engaging portions to move from a contracted position to an expanded position.

Expandable torque tool

A concrete anchor has a body with cam surfaces. Each of the cam surfaces curves outward from a first edge to a second edge. The cam surfaces have a circumscribed outer diameter that increases in a downward direction. Jaws are retained around the body, each of the jaws having an inner side in engagement with one of the cam surfaces. Each of the jaws decreases in radial thickness in a downward direction. Cam ratchet teeth on each of the cam surfaces engage jaw ratchet teeth on the inner side of each of the jaws. The jaw ratchet teeth ratchet over the cam ratchet teeth as the body rotates in a first direction to move the jaws from a contracted position to an expanded position. The engagement of the cam and jaw ratchet teeth prevent rotation of the body relative to the jaws in the opposite direction.

A tool for removing a first nut and a differently sized second nut includes a housing, a first cage and a second cage, and a first canted coil spring and a second canted coil spring. The illustrative housing has a top surface, a first interior sidewall, a bottom surface and a second interior sidewall. Each illustrative interior sidewall includes a lobed cam and a groove. Each cage includes jaws that grip the respective not and each cage also includes a groove. The canted coil springs are disposed in the grooves corresponding to the cage and the housing.

Flip socket nut removal tool

A tool for removing a stud includes a housing, a cage and a canted coil spring. The housing has an interior sidewall with a three-lobed cam and a groove. Each lobe has a counterclockwise cam inner surface and a clockwise cam inner surface on the opposite side of the lobe center line. The cage has a top surface, a tapered terminus and a groove disposed between the top surface and the tapered terminus. The cage includes jaws, in which the jaw outer cam surface of each jaw interfaces with the cam inner surface of the interior sidewall. The canted coil spring rotatably couples the cage to the housing. During stud removal, the housing rotates counterclockwise relative to the cage and the cage rotates counterclockwise to engage the stud.

Stud removal tool

An apparatus for removing a socket fastener is described. The apparatus includes a base, a camshaft, a sleeve and a cartridge. The base includes a base top section and a base bottom section. The camshaft includes lobes that extend from a camshaft top surface to a camshaft bottom surface. The camshaft is fixedly coupled to the base. The cartridge includes a cartridge top surface, a cartridge lip and a plurality of jaws. Each jaw includes a jaw counterclockwise outer cam surface, a jaw counterclockwise inner cam surface, a jaw clockwise outer cam surface, and a jaw clockwise inner cam surface. The cartridge is fixedly coupled to the sleeve and the cartridge interfaces with the camshaft. Additionally, the jaw inner cam surface interfaces with the camshaft cam profiles. The jaws rotate and engage the socket fastener.

Socket fastener removal tool

An apparatus for removing a first nut and a differently sized second nut is described. The canted coil spring is received by the groove of the interior sidewall and the groove of the cage. The canted coil spring rotatably couples the cage to the housing. During nut removal, the housing rotates counterclockwise relative to the cage, causing the jaws of the cage to interface with the interior sidewall.

An apparatus for removing a stud is described. The apparatus includes a housing, a cage and a canted coil spring. The housing has an interior sidewall with a three-lobed cam and a groove. Each lobe has a counterclockwise cam inner surface and a clockwise cam inner surface on the opposite side of the lobe center line. The cage has a top surface, a tapered terminus and a groove disposed between the top surface and the tapered terminus. An apparatus for removing a nut is described. The apparatus includes a housing, a cage, and a canted coil spring. The housing has a top surface, an interior sidewall, and a bottom surface. The interior sidewall defines an orifice that extends from the top surface to a lip. The interior sidewall includes a three-lobed cam and a groove. Each lobe has a lobe center line, a counterclockwise cam inner surface on one side of the lobe center line, and a clockwise cam inner surface on the opposite side of the lobe center line. The canted coil spring is received by the groove of the interior sidewall and the groove of the cage. The canted coil spring rotatably couples the cage to the housing. During nut removal, the housing rotates counterclockwise relative to the cage. The cage rotates counterclockwise to engage the nut, and the cage interfaces with the interior sidewall.

A carriage system supports an impact or driver tool. The carriage system has a support member that extends upwardly from a base platform. Support arms are rotatably connected to the support member at medial portion of the arms at different elevations above the support member. A proximal end of each of the arms rotatably connects to a weight, while a distal end of each of the arms is adapted to rotatably connect to the driver tool. The weight is located on an opposite side of the support member from the driver tool when the driver tool is attached. When the weight is moved in a vertical direction, the arms rotate in combination with the movement of the weight. The arms rotate about their respective medial connections, thereby forcing the ends that rotatably connect to the driver tool to move in a vertically opposite direction than the weight.

Impact tool carriage system

A releasable honda for lariat ropes has a heel with a throat through which the rope passes, with a tapered throat end forming a cavity for containing a knot in the rope; teeth and/or ridged projections inside the throat retain the rope in position. An axis of the throat is at an angle to a centerline through the heel. Resilient arms extend from the heel at angle to the centerline axis of the heel, and curve toward each other so that the distal ends of the arms almost meet, defining a slit between the arms. Tapered surfaces on the end of each resilient arm cooperate to form a shallow V-shaped indentation on an inner surface of the eye to guide rope into the slit so that a strong pull will force the rope through the slit, releasing the loop; a similar indentation on the outer perimeter of the eye facilitates slipping the rope back into the eye to reform a lasso.

Breakaway loop for lariats

A double ended socket has a tapered spline bore in each end thereof. A square hole at a midpoint internal flange provides means for attaching the socket to an impact wrench for removing a thread protector from a pin of a sucker rod. A gripping socket has three floating jaws within a housing to engage coupling of a sucker rod. With an impact wrench, the gripping socket readily removes a coupling from a sucker rod pin. The two tools are used to inspect, clean, and lubricate sucker rods, and to maintain the lubricated pins clean until the rods are run in a well.
