A multi-axis payload isolation device for isolating a payload from outside motions. The multi-axis payload isolation device includes a payload mount base, a housing, and a flexure. The payload mount base is configured to support a payload. The housing includes an interior cavity for receiving and supporting the payload mount base. The flexure includes a plurality of radial supports and a common hub. The plurality of radial supports attach the payload mount base to the housing and are made of a superelastic shape-memory alloy. The common hub is configured to connect each of the plurality of radial supports to the payload mount base.

Superelastic multi axis flexure

A multi-flexure payload isolation device for isolating a payload from outside forces. The device can include a housing comprising an interior cavity configured to receive and support the payload. The device can further include a first flexure and a second flexure, each including a plurality of spokes made of a pseudoelastic shape-memory alloy anchored to the housing and configured to support the payload from the housing through an opening in the housing. The first and second flexures can each further include a common hub attached to a side of the payload and disposed in the opening in the housing wherein the each of the pluralities of spokes are anchored to the respective common hub.

Multi-flexure isolation system utilizing pseudoelastic multi-axis rotational flexures

Various exemplary systems for transporting and switching optical components are disclosed. The system includes carriers disposed about a housing and configured to follow a carrier guide system to switch optical components at the optical prescription center of the optical path. In one example, a device is disclosed that reduces the packaging form factor through the use of carriers rotated about an inverted radius along a track adjacent to a limiting peripheral boundary. The system and device are configured to switch optical components while minimizing the form factor of the optical device. Methods of accomplishing these tasks are also disclosed.

Optical element switching systems for an electro optical system

A relative translation assembly operable with a drive mechanism. The relative translation assembly can have a fixed support member, a translatable member supported by the fixed support member, and a translation guide portion to facilitate translation of the translatable member relative to the fixed support member. The translation guide portion can have a fixed translation member and a movable translation member. The movable translation member can be configured to maintain preload on the fixed and movable translation members and accommodate thermal expansion. The drive mechanism can be configured to cause translation of the translatable member relative to the fixed support member.

Relative translation assembly

A flexure is disclosed for accommodating misalignments in an assembly. The flexure can include a first portion, a second portion, and a flexible portion coupling the first portion and the second portion to one another. The flexible portion can facilitate relative movement between the first and second portions in a plurality of degrees of freedom. The flexure can further include one or more stops operable to limit relative movement between the first and second portions in at least two of the plurality of degrees of freedom.

A relative translation system is disclosed. The relative translation system can include a relative translation assembly and a drive mechanism. The relative translation assembly can have a fixed support member, a translatable member supported by the fixed support member, and a translation guide portion to facilitate translation of the translatable member relative to the fixed support member. The translation guide portion can have a fixed translation member and a movable translation member. The movable translation member can be configured to maintain preload on the fixed and movable translation members and accommodate thermal expansion. The drive mechanism can be configured to cause translation of the translatable member relative to the fixed support member.
