A toilet for a zero-gravity condition, having: a seat extending from a first end to a second end, and from a first side to a second side; a leg rest at the first end of the seat that is level with the seat; a backrest at the second end of the seat that extends away from the seat, toward an outer end of the toilet, a first sidewall at the first side of the seat and a second sidewall at the second side of the seat, the sidewalls extend away from the seat toward the outer end of the toilet; a basin extending away from the seat toward an inner end of the toilet; a first inflatable member extending about the leg rest, the sidewalls and the backrest, the first inflatable member is configured to inflate against a back, sides and under legs of a person seated against the seat.

Toilet and garment for waste removal in a zero-gravity condition

A system to perform multi-stage cleaning of material from a space suit worn by an astronaut in a deep space environment includes one or more discharge units installed external to an interior volume of a facility in the deep space environment. Each of the one or more discharge units releases one or more substances. The one or more substances includes water or air and the interior volume of the facility is defined by an interior hatch that is separated from an exterior hatch leading to the deep space environment by an airlock. One or more collection units installed external to the interior volume. Each collection unit traps released material that is released from a space suit based on the multi-stage cleaning to prevent the released material from entering the interior volume.

A system includes a vibration detector to detect a location of vibration and identify a frequency of the vibration. The system also includes a controller to generate audio corresponding to the frequency of vibration detected by the vibration detector and one or more speakers configured to provide the audio as directional sound.

A magnetic pass-through controller of an in-helmet display includes internal components inside a helmet. The internal components include a magnet assembly holding one or more internal magnets and a swing arm affixed to the magnet assembly and affixed to the in-helmet display. External components outside the helmet include an external magnet housing holding one or more external magnets and an adjuster for manual rotation. The adjuster is coupled to the external magnet housing such that the manual rotation of the adjuster causes a corresponding rotation of the external magnet housing. Magnetic coupling between the one or more internal magnets and the one or more external magnets causes the corresponding rotation also in the magnet assembly and the swing arm.

A system for an atmospheric suit includes one or more modular proximity sensors affixed to corresponding one or more portions of the atmospheric suit. Each of the one or more proximity sensors provides a distance to a nearest object from the corresponding portion of the atmospheric suit. The system also includes processing circuitry to obtain the distance from each of the one or more proximity sensors to the nearest object and to provide information to the wearer of the atmospheric suit.

A thermoelectric power generation system includes a solar panel array on a first side of a tower to absorb solar radiation and generate electrical energy and waste heat and a panel on a second side, opposite the first side, of the tower. A plurality of thermoelectric elements of the tower are interposed between the solar panel array and the panel. The plurality of thermoelectric elements converts conductive heat flow of the waste heat from the solar panel directed toward the panel to electrical energy. A conductive base supports the tower and to conduct heat away from the panel.

A system in an atmospheric suit includes a controller within the atmospheric suit. The system also includes a network that is a hub and spoke network arranged within the atmospheric suit. The controller is the hub of the network and each spoke of the network represents wiring that leads to one of a plurality of ports accessible from outside the atmospheric suit.

A sublimation generator including a sublimation tank configured to receive ice including at least carbon dioxide. The sublimation generator also includes a first heat exchanger in thermal communication with the sublimation tank. The first heat exchanger being configured to expel heat from a coolant into the sublimation tank to sublimate the carbon dioxide into a gaseous state. The sublimation generator also includes a gas turbine generator fluidly connected to the sublimation tank and configured to receive the carbon dioxide in the gaseous state.

A system includes a first communication system and a second communication system, each with a microphone, an array of speakers arranged to encircle a user of the communication system, a controller, and an array of antenna elements. In each communication system, the array of antenna elements transmits and receives over 360 degrees together, a positional correspondence between the array of speakers and the array of antenna elements is fixed, and the controller controls audio to be output only by speakers among the first array of speakers that correspond to antenna elements among the first array of antenna elements that receive communication.

A generator includes a main cavity and a shaft located in the main cavity. The shaft is configured to be connected to an auxiliary power unit (APU) and rotated by the APU. The generator is configured to generate power based on the rotation of the shaft. A fluid system is configured to receive a fluid from the APU, flow the fluid through the main cavity and return the fluid to the APU through a fluid scavenge channel. A filter is configured to filter the fluid from the main cavity to the fluid scavenge channel and a sensor is configured to detect a characteristic of the fluid at the filter.
