An ostomy system configured to detect moisture content in a base plate or a sensor assembly part of the ostomy system, the ostomy system comprising the base plate and/or a sensor assembly part and a monitor device. The base plate or the sensor assembly part includes a first adhesive layer, a plurality of electrodes, and one or more sensing zones each covering one of one or more regions of the first adhesive layer, each of the one or more sensing zones including at least two of the plurality of electrodes. The monitor device is electrically coupled to the plurality of electrodes of the base plate or the sensor assembly part and configured to measure one or more resistances in the one or more sensing zones between the plurality of electrodes, each of the one or more resistances measured by two of the plurality of electrodes at one of the one or more sensing zones, and determine moisture content of the first adhesive layer at each of the one or more sensing zones based on the measured one or more resistances.

Data collection schemes for a wound dressing and related methods are disclosed. In an embodiment, a monitor device for a wound dressing system comprises a wound dressing. The wound dressing comprises an electrode assembly. The electrode assembly comprises a plurality of electrodes including a first set of first electrodes and a second set of second electrodes. The monitor device comprises: a processor, memory and a first interface. The first interface is connected to the processor and the memory. The first interface comprises a plurality of terminals including a first terminal and a second terminal and a data collector coupled to the first terminal and the second terminal. The first terminal is configured to form an electrical connection with a first primary electrode of the first set of first electrodes and the second terminal is configured to form an electrical connection with either a first secondary electrode of the first set of first electrodes or a second primary electrode of the second set of second electrodes. The data collector comprises a data collection controller and is configured to: collect data from the plurality of terminals according to a primary data collection scheme; and collect data from the plurality of terminals according to a secondary data collection scheme, wherein the primary data collection scheme is different from the secondary data collection scheme.

Data collection schemes for a wound dressing and related methods

Embodiments of a base plate and/or a sensor assembly part of an ostomy appliance including selective sensor points are disclosed. The base plate and/or the sensor assembly part comprises: a first adhesive layer and a plurality of electrodes located distally of the adhesive layer. The first adhesive layer comprises a stomal opening with a center point, a proximal surface configured to be attached to a skin surface of a user, and a plurality of sensor point openings arranged circumferentially around the center point at respective radial distances. The plurality of electrodes comprises a first leakage electrode and a second leakage electrode. A sensing part of the first leakage electrode aligns with a first sensor point opening of the plurality of sensor point openings. And, a sensing part of the second leakage electrode aligns with a second sensor point opening of the plurality of sensor point openings to form a leak sensor.

A method for operating an accessory device to guide the placement of an ostomy appliance on a user having a stoma. The method can include capturing an image or a sequence of images of the user applying the ostomy appliance to the user's body, processing the captured image or sequence of images, including: identifying a location of the stoma in one or more of the captured image or sequence of images, identifying a location of the ostomy appliance in one or more of the captured image or sequence of images, and generating location indicia representative of the location of the ostomy appliance with respect to the stoma in one or more of the captured image or sequence of images. A Wound Moisture and Assessment System includes a flexible coupon containing one or more electrochemical moisture sensors for measuring a moisture profile of a wound. The coupon is activated by a wireless RF scanner that provides power to the coupon for taking moisture measurements, receives the moisture measurements therefrom, and transmits the measurements to a computing device. The moisture measurements can be represented as a wound moisture map that allows a patient or caregiver to assess the health and healing progress of a wound such as an ulcer.

The first adhesive layer comprises a proximal surface configured for attachment of the wound dressing to a skin surface of a user. The electrode assembly comprises a plurality of electrodes including a first set of first electrodes. The monitor interface is configured to form a mechanical and electrical connection with a monitor device. The monitor interface comprises a coupling part and a plurality of terminals including a first terminal. The multiplexer comprises a number of N input pins and a number of M output pins. The N input pins include a first set of first input pins for connection to first electrodes of the first set of first electrodes, the first set of first pins including a first primary input pin and a first secondary input pin, and the M output pins include a first output pin. The first primary input pin is connected to a first primary electrode of the first set of first electrodes and the first secondary input pin is connected to a first secondary electrode of the first set of first electrodes, and the first output pin is connected to the first terminal of the monitor interface. An ostomy base plate includes an adhesive layer, a top layer, and a sensor assembly. The adhesive layer is adapted to adhere the ostomy base plate to skin of a user. The top layer is on a distal side of the ostomy base plate and has a top layer opening. The sensor assembly is disposed between the adhesive layer and the top layer and includes electrodes with electrical connection parts. The electrical connection parts of the electrodes extend through the top layer opening for electrical connection with a removable data monitor.
