A printing method and system include a printhead configured to eject a fixer fluid. A controller is operatively connected to the printhead and configured to control the printhead so as to apply the fixer fluid to a print area in a pattern to form cells having a predetermined area without the fixer fluid.

Printing system

Operations of printing systems are disclosed. According to examples, a deposition sequence for depositing printing fluids onto a substrate location is dynamically controlled. Sub-groups of nozzles in nozzle arrays are selected according to the deposition sequence.

Operation of printing systems

Print masks for multiple pass print modes are described herein. In at least some examples herein, the print mask includes mask matrices. The mask matrices define a single nozzle actuation pattern. The nozzle actuation pattern is irregular. In at least some examples herein, techniques for printing of an image on a substrate are described. During printing the image on the substrate a print mask is applied such that, for each pass, the inkjet nozzles in the print head are actuated according to the single nozzle actuation pattern.

Print masks for multiple pass print modes

A printhead for a printer in which a print medium advances in a media advance direction, said printhead being static when printing and having an adjustable length in a width direction that is perpendicular to said media advance direction, such that the length of the printhead in said width direction can be adjusted to the width of the image to be printed.
