A multi-tenant, elastically scalable cache as a service is disclosed. Embodiments of the cache service eliminate the need for applications to manage their own cache tier. The multi-tenant cache service is implemented by maintaining/creating multiple named caches in a cache cluster and mapping each tenant's cache to a named cache in the cluster. Strict quotas are enforced on cache sizes This allows caches with different replication attributes to co-exist on the same cache server, allows migration of a cache from one cluster to another for load balancing purposes, and allows a cache to inflate/deflate to meet business needs. A network load balancer is used to route cache items to servers.

High-density multi-tenant distributed cache as a service

Systems and methods for providing an update to a natively rendered application installed on a mobile device are provided. A method includes updating a base application with a unique tailored solution for each client that has created its own unique tailored solution. The method further includes storing, for each client that has created its own unique tailored solution, the base application with its unique tailored solution, as separate versions of the base application in a storage system. The method further includes adding common additional code to each of the separate versions of the base application, while preserving the unique tailored solution for each client that has created its own unique tailored solution. The method further includes pushing the base application with the common additional code to the client.

Mobile application update preserving changes to the application made by a client

Systems and processes of advanced identity management over multiple identity providers deployable through mobile applications are provided. The process, e.g., method, includes requesting a backend service from multiple backend services by a requesting device. The method further includes exposing the requested backend service though a call in by a gateway service using a token mapped to the requested backend service, without exposing any of the backend services directly to the requesting device.

Gathering tenant usage data of server resources. A method includes a server in a cluster providing server resources for one or more tenants of the server. Data is stored in a local usage cache at the server. The data characterizes the resources provided to the one or more tenants of the server. At the server, data stored in the local usage cache is aggregated on a tenant basis, such that data is aggregated for given tenants. The aggregated data is sent to a distributed cache. At the server, aggregated data from other servers in the cluster is received from the distributed cache. The aggregated data from other servers in the cluster is globally aggregated and stored at an aggregated usage cache at the server in the globally aggregated form.

Near-real time distributed usage aggregation system

The extract and transformation operation performed on multiple data sources. In the extract operation, a computing system periodically performs an extraction operation on the data sources, perhaps as defined by metadata. The transformation operation is performed on at least some the extracted data, and is periodically performed, perhaps also in a manner that is defined by metadata. When performing each iteration of the transformation operation, the computing system performs a transformation operation on valid data, marks other data as suspect (due to a dependency on data that is not present), and completes transformation on yet other data that had previously been marked as suspect or perhaps reaffirms its suspect status if the needed data is still not available.

Extract, transform and load using metadata

A metadata driven system for supporting business application software required in the middle tier for a line of business applications includes a process metadata module adapted to store a process in metadata format, wherein the process object contains logic related to an entity of the application software. The system allows for persistence of various entities like accounts, incidents, etc., and allows an end user of the business application software to create new types of entities. The system also allows the end user to perform critical business logic operations even on the new entities defined by the end user after the deployment of the business application without requiring recompilation of the business application software. The metadata driven approach allows to easily make changes to business applications and to automate quality assurance of objects built on top of the business applications.

Method and apparatus for metadata driven business logic processing

A transaction protocol is described that allows a database transaction to begin as a local, lightweight transaction without involving a distributed transaction coordinator and then be promoted to a distributed transaction only when required, e.g. when more than one database connection is required. A promotable enlistment allows a first resource to begin processing a promotable transaction. If the resource is notified that the transaction is being promoted to a distributed transaction, the resource is configured to promote the enlistment to a distributed transaction coordinator which coordinates processing of the transaction between the first resource and at least a second resource.

A metadata driven software development system provides various functionalities related to an entity of an application in the metadata format. Specifically, the system provides a set of base classes related to the entity and a set of methods and application programming interfaces for various operations to be performed on the entities in the metadata format. Defining such functionalities in the metadata format allows the system to dynamically generate XML messages matching any customized schema for that entity. Because such functionality is metadata driven, this system can be used with customized versions of the application without requiring any additional code or recompilation.
