A system and method for appliance communication is provided, the system including a first and second appliance each including a short range radio communications device, an internet communications device, and a controller configured to execute operations. The operations include transmitting, from the first radio communications device to the second radio communications device, a request signal requesting a transmission from a communications network; transmitting, from the second internet communications device of the second appliance, a communications signal requesting a data packet from a communications network to which the internet communications device is communicatively coupled; transmitting, from the second internet communications device to the second radio communications device, the data packet received from the communications network; transmitting, from the second radio communications device to the first radio communications device, the data packet; and accessing, via the first controller, the data packet received via the first radio communications device.

System and method for appliance communication

A laundry washing machine appliance and method for operation are provided, including a wash basket rotatably mounted within a tub, the wash basket configured to receive laundry articles; a pump assembly configured to drain fluid from the wash basket; one or more sensors configured to obtain a pressure value, a humidity value, or both; and a controller configured to store instructions that, when executed, causes the appliance to perform operations. The operations include operating the pump assembly to perform a drain cycle; determining a pressure value over a period of time during the drain cycle; determining whether the pressure value over the period of time decreases at or above a pressure threshold rate; and operating the pump assembly in a preset cycle mode when the pressure value over the period of time is below the pressure threshold rate.

Laundry machine and method for operation

A laundry appliance includes a drum rotatably mounted within a cabinet and defining a chamber configured for receiving a load of clothes, a door pivotally mounted to the cabinet for providing selective access to the chamber, and a user interface for controlling operation of the laundry appliance. A controller is configured to monitor the number of wash cycles that have occurred in the laundry appliance since the last self-clean cycle. Once the laundry appliance reaches a predetermined number of wash cycles without an intervening self-clean cycle, an automatic self-clean cycle is initiated upon the next selection of a drying cycle by the user, wherein the drying cycle provides an indication that the chamber is empty of article of laundry and that the user has no further immediate washing needs. In these circumstances, the controller is configured to reconfigure the selected drying cycle into a combination cycle including a self-clean cycle which is automatically followed by the desired drying cycle.
