The present invention relates to an apparatus comprising: memory to store policy statement information for a plurality of radio access network (RAN) automation applications (rApps); and processing circuitry, coupled with the memory, to: retrieve the policy statement information from the memory, wherein the policy statement information includes respective policy scope identifiers for respective rApps in the plurality of rApps; identify a conflict associated with common or overlapping policy scope identifiers between two or more rApps from the plurality of rApps; modify one or more A1 policies associated with an A1 interface connecting a non-real-time (non-RT) RAN intelligence controller (RIC) and a near-real-time (near-RT) RIC to resolve the conflict; and notify the two or more rApps of the modification of the one or more A1 policies.

A1 policy functions for open radio access network (O-RAN) systems

Devices, methods, communication nodes, base stations, storage media, and other embodiments are provided for managing associations in a communication network. In one example embodiment, a New Radio (NR) node is configured for NR user-plane protocol communications between a master node (MN) and a secondary node (SN). The NRnode is configured to generate a downlink (DL) user data message with downlink user data, initiate transmission of the DL user data message to a second node, and process a DL data delivery status message from the second node in response to the DL user data message. In various embodiments, polling and SCG split-bearer configurations are supported by such messaging. In some embodiments, packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) serial numbers are communicated for transmission and retransmission management. In some embodiments, DL configurations initiated by an SN are enabled, as well as UL configurations initiated by either an MN or an SN.

Apparatuses for non real-time (Non-RT) radio access network intelligence controller (RIC) and Near-RT RIC services for machine learning (ML) model management in an open radio access network (O-RAN) are disclosed. The services include ML model monitoring, getting and putting ML models from and to an AI-ML producer and an AI-ML consumer, and terminating the use of an ML mode. The ML model monitoring includes the AI-ML consumer sending monitoring data to the AI-ML producer and the AI-ML producer processing the monitoring data and taking actions based on the monitoring data. The services may be performed over the AI interface using HTTP.

Techniques to configure a user equipment (UE) for a multi-connectivity handover with a source base station (SBS) and a target base station (TBS) include encoding a measurement report for transmission to the SBS. The measurement report is triggered based on a measurement event configured by the SBS. Radio resource control (RRC) signaling from the SBS is decoded, the RRC signaling including a handover command in response to the measurement report. The handover command includes an indication for multi-connectivity support by the SBS and the TBS during the handover. A first protocol stack associated with the SBS and a second protocol stack associated with the TBS are configured at the UE. A packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) protocol data unit (PDU) received at the UE during the handover is processed using the first protocol stack or the second protocol stack.
