A liquid crystal display and a driving method thereof are provided. The liquid crystal includes a liquid crystal display panel, a data driving circuit, a gate driving circuit, a timing controller, and an over-driving controller. The over-driving controller, if a difference between input data input during a (N)th frame period (N is a positive integer) and (N&#x2212;1)th frame data read from a memory is more than 2 gray levels, modulates the data at an over/under shoot ratio of 20 to 80% and supplies the modulated data to the timing controller, if the difference is less than 2 gray levels, differently supplies the input data to the timing controller and converts the least significant bit of the data stored in the memory according to whether or not the data is modulated.
