A curved secondary battery includes an electrode assembly including a first electrode plate, a second electrode plate, and a separator between the first and second electrode plates, a can accommodating the electrode assembly, the can being curved and portions of the can having different thicknesses in a bending direction of the can, the can having an opening in a side thereof that provide a passage for the electrode assembly, and a cap plate sealing the opening of the can.

A method of manufacturing a secondary battery including an electrode assembly, a case configured to accommodate the electrode assembly, and an electrode terminal exposed from the case, wherein the method includes: welding a first electrode tab to a terminal plate by a first ultrasonic welding process, the first electrode tab extending from the electrode assembly, the terminal plate being electrically connected to the electrode terminal and accommodated in the case, and the first ultrasonic welding process including: arranging a pair of first fixing blocks on opposite sides of the terminal plate; pressing a horn against overlapping portions of the terminal plate and the first electrode tab exposed between the pair of first fixing blocks; and applying first ultrasonic vibrations from the horn.

Method of manufacturing secondary battery

A secondary battery comprising an electrode assembly comprising a first electrode plate, a second electrode plate, and a separator between the first electrode plate and the second electrode plate, a protection film coupled to one end of the electrode assembly, a can accommodating the electrode assembly, and a cap plate coupled to the can, wherein the separator protrudes more toward the protection film than the first electrode plate and the second electrode plate at the one end of the electrode assembly, and wherein the protection film is thermally bonded to an end portion of the separator.

Provided is a secondary battery, which can improve a coupling force between a case and a cap plate and can improve stability of the secondary battery, by forming a coupling protrusion on a side surface of the cap plate and forming a coupling groove corresponding to the coupling protrusion on an inner surface of the case. The secondary battery includes an electrode assembly, a case accommodating the electrode assembly, and a cap plate coupled to an opening of the case. A coupling protrusion protruding toward an inner surface of the case is formed on a side surface of the cap plate, and a coupling groove corresponding to the coupling protrusion is formed on the inner surface of the case.

Provided is a secondary battery, which can prevent a protective circuit board and an electrode terminal from colliding with each other by providing a gasket including a support unit protruding from a top surface of a cap plate to be higher than the electrode terminal. The secondary battery includes an electrode assembly, a case accommodating the electrode assembly, a cap plate coupled to an opening of the case, an electrode terminal electrically connected to the electrode assembly and upwardly protruding through a terminal throughhole of the cap plate, and a gasket interposed between the cap plate and the electrode terminal and electrically insulating the cap plate and the electrode terminal from each other. The gasket includes a support unit protruding from the cap plate to be higher than the electrode terminal.

A secondary battery, which can improve safety during a longitudinal compression test by reinforcing strength of a cap plate, is provided. In one embodiment, the secondary battery includes an electrode assembly, a can accommodating the electrode assembly, and cap plate coupled to a top portion of the can and sealing the can, wherein a reinforcement unit is formed on at least one side of the cap plate.

A secondary battery which can prevent leakage of an electrolytic solution by improving the sealing property of an electrolytic solution injection hole formed at a cap plate comprises: an electrode assembly including a cathode plate, a separator and an anode plate; a can having an upper opening for receiving the electrode assembly; and a cap assembly which is combined with the upper opening of the can, and which includes a cap plate provided with an electrolytic solution injection hole at one side thereof. A groove is formed in an axial direction on an inner circumferential surface of the electrolytic solution injection hole. Thus, the contact area between a stopper and the electrolytic solution injection hole is increased, thereby improving the sealing property of the electrolytic solution injection hole.
