A content delivery provider may stream an application to each of a plurality of computing devices. The content delivery provider may transmit an offer to download the application to each of the plurality of computing devices, after a first initial display interval. The provider may receive a number of positive user interactions with the offer after the first initial display interval, and a total number of positive user interactions with the offer. The provider may automatically adjust the initial display interval by a factor proportional to a desired first-display quantile divided by the number of positive user interactions after the first initial display interval. The application may be streamed to a second computing device, and the offer to download the application transmitted to the second computing device, after the adjusted initial display interval.

Methods, systems, and apparatus, for receiving a native application search result that identifies a native application and a first URI that causes the native application to display a native application page that includes content responsive to the query; determining, at the user device, whether the user device has a native application installed that can process the first uniform resource identifier (URI) of the native application search result; in response to determining that the user device does not have a native application installed that can process the first URI, processing, at the user device, a second URI that can be processed by the first application, where the second URI, when processed, causes the first application to display a first application page that includes content responsive to the query; wherein the content included in the first application page and the content included in the native application page are synchronized content.

In one aspect, a method includes accessing application package files for native applications, and for each native application: determining, from the application package file, an application name of the native application, accessing, at the data processing apparatus, application pages of the native application, and for each of the application pages, generating application page data describing content of the application page, an application page name of the application page, the content described by the application page data including text that a user device displays on the application page when the user device displays the application page, and indexing the application page data and application icon for the native application in an index that is searchable by a search engine.

In one aspect, a method includes determining, for a given query, a first ranking of a set of first native applications that each have a respective corresponding web resource. For each particular first native application in the first ranking, a first universal ranking score is determined based on a position of the particular first native application in the first ranking and a total number of first native applications in the first ranking. A second ranking of a set of second native applications that do not have a corresponding web resource is determined. For each particular second native application, a second universal ranking score is determined based on a position of the particular second native application in the second ranking and a total number of second native applications in the second ranking.

Ranking native applications and native application deep links

Methods, systems, and apparatus, for generation partial deep links to a resource. In an aspect, a system determines that a resource identified by a resource address includes portion identifiers and respectively corresponding native application partial deep links. Each portion identifier identifies a portion of content that is a proper subset of the content to be rendered in the browser environment, the proper subset of content being different from the proper subsets of content identified by the other portion identifiers. The native application partial deep link identifies a native application that is to be used to render the portion of content identified by the portion identifier and a partial deep link for the native application that uniquely corresponds to the portion identifier to identify the proper subset of content. The system generates a mapping that maps the resource address to the native application partial deep link.

In one aspect, a method includes instantiating a virtual machine emulating an operating system of a user device; instantiating, within the virtual machine, a native application that generates application pages for display on a user device within the native application; accessing, within the virtual machine, application pages of the native application, and for each of the application pages: generating application page data describing content of the application page, the content described by the application page data including text that a user device displays on the application page when the user device displays the application page; and indexing the application page data for the native application in an index that is searchable by a search engine.
