An apparatus for wireless communication of a UE is disclosed. The apparatus may initiate, at a new radio (NR) serving cell, a voice session with an IMS. The apparatus may perform, in response to determining that voice over NR (VoNR) is not supported by the first NR cell, an EPS fallback procedure to establish the voice session with the IMS. The apparatus may update a whitelist of NR cells that support VoNR to include the first NR cell when it is determined that the first NR cell supports VoNR.

The voice call device includes a processor, and a memory having instructions stored thereon, which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations as follows. After a voice call is initiated via a user equipment (UE) device over 5G NR, a status of an IMS registration (e.g., failed, in progress, etc.) for the UE is identified. For example, in response to determining that the status of IMS registration for the UE is in-progress, the voice call can be held, and a wait timer initiated. If the IMS registration completes prior to the wait timer expiring, the voice call is conducted over 5G NR or 4G Long-term Evolution (LTE).

An apparatus for wireless communication of a user equipment (UE) is disclosed. The apparatus may include a memory and at least one processor coupled to the memory. The at least one processor may be configured to receive a paging signal associated with an mobile terminating (MT) internet protocol (IP) multimedia subsystem (IMS) voice session. The at least one processor may be further configured to send a session initiation protocol (SIP) message in response to the paging signal. The at least one processor may be further configured to receive a second SIP message indicating SIP failure. The at least one processor may be further configured to determine whether the second SIP message indicates a network failure or a global failure. The at least one processor may be further configured to establish a connection with a different RAT network when the second SIP message indicates a network failure or a global failure.

Apparatus and method of a mobile terminating user equipment connecting to a fallback network

A user equipment (UE), a method and a communication apparatus are provided. The UE includes a first communication circuit that receives a notification, a processor, and a memory unit that is operatively connected to the processor and includes instructions. The instructions, when being executed, cause the processor to execute a method. In the method, it is determined that the notification indicates that an incoming call was directed to the UE during a preset time period. It is identified that the UE did not receive the incoming call during the preset time period based on: an identification that the incoming call was not forwarded to another device; and an identification that, during the preset time period, the UE was not in a call handling mode in which the UE does not receive incoming call. A recovery option is performed based on identification that the UE did not receive the incoming call.
