A correction device for correcting luminance of a display image based on background illuminance and transmittance of a transparent display panel, a transparent display device using the same, and a method for driving the display device are discussed. The correction device can correct luminance of a display image in real time based on a background-affected illuminance of a transparent display panel. Further, an optimal peak luminance of the display image is adjusted based on the background-affected illuminance of the transparent display panel, while adding a weight to a dark environment such that the peak luminance is further lowered, thereby reducing an amount of power consumption while maintaining display quality of the transparent display image.

A system for evaluating a quality of a transparent display, the system including: a background including any one of a full white pattern, a full black pattern, and a circle white pattern; a light detector positioned a first distance away from the background to measure luminance of the full white pattern, the full black pattern and the circle white pattern; and a circle transparent pattern displayed on the transparent display by passing light from at least one of the full white pattern, the full black pattern and the circle white pattern, further the transparent display is positioned between the background and the light detector and at a second distance away from the light detector, further a purity of the transparent display is calculated based on luminance of the full white pattern, the full black pattern, and the circle white pattern as measured by the light detector through the transparent display.

A gamma compensation method and a display device using the same are disclosed. The gamma compensation method includes: sensing a level of external illuminance; determining whether the sensed level of external illuminance is equal to or lower than a predetermined illuminance, wherein when the sensed level is equal to or lower than the predetermined illuminance, the luminance of the display device is reduced to an optimum luminance; and modulating gray levels of input data of the display device based on a first gamma curve when the sensed level of external illuminance is equal to or lower than the predetermined illuminance, and modulating based on a second gamma curve when the sensed level of external illuminance is greater than the predetermined illuminance, wherein the first gamma curve includes a concave curve set in a low gray level area and a convex curve set in a high gray level area, and the concave curve and the convex curve are connected via an inflection point.

Disclosed are an apparatus and method for measuring picture quality of a stereoscopic display device, and a picture quality analyzing method using the same, which quantify a motion artifact of a 3D moving picture in consideration of even an undesired moving picture artifact caused by a motion and gray-to-gray crosstalk, and moreover measure a motion blur. The picture quality measuring apparatus includes a pattern generator, a 3D display device, a polarization member, a following camera, and an analyzer. The pattern generator generates a right-eye and a left-eye moving picture pattern which move at a predetermined scroll speed. The 3D display device displays the right-eye and left-eye moving picture pattern inputted from the pattern generator. The following camera follows respective boundary portions of the right-eye and left-eye moving picture pattern, which pass through the polarization member and are incident on the following camera, to measure luminance.
