A method for manufacturing a display device includes forming a first hole that extends into a substrate, through a first wet etching process using a first etchant and forming a second hole that extends from the first hole further into the substrate, through a second wet etching process using a second etchant. The second etchant has a pH different from a pH of the first etchant.

The display panel includes a base layer that includes a plurality of stopper patterns and a support layer coupled to the plurality of stopper patterns. The supporter supports the plurality of stopper patterns and the support layer. The supporter includes a plurality of support blocks, each of which extends along the first direction and which are arrayed along the second direction. The plurality of support blocks include a first support block and a second support block spaced apart from each other in the second direction. The first and second non-folding portions and the folding portion are arranged in the window in a first direction, first processing areas extending in a second direction intersecting the first direction and arranged in the first direction are defined in the front surface of the folding portion, and the laser beam is irradiated at least once to each of the first processing areas in the second direction.

A display panel includes a pad line disposed on a rear surface of a base layer and a connection line disposed on a front surface of the base layer. The pad line and the connection line are connected in an area overlapping a pad hole defined to pass through the base layer, and the pad line is connected to a driving unit on the rear surface of the base layer.
