A multilayer ceramic electronic component includes: a ceramic body and first and second external electrodes on external surfaces of the ceramic body. The ceramic body includes first and second internal electrodes facing each other with dielectric layers interposed therebetween. The ceramic body includes an active portion in which capacitance is formed and cover portions on upper and lower surfaces of the active portion, respectively. The ratio of the thickness of the first and second external electrodes to the thickness of the cover portion is proportional to the inverse of the cube root of the ratio of the Young's Modulus of each of the first and second external electrodes to the Young's modulus of the cover portion.

Multilayer ceramic electronic component

A capacitor component includes a body having a first surface and a second surface opposing each other and including a multilayer structure in which a plurality of dielectric layers are stacked and first and second internal electrodes are alternately disposed with respective dielectric layers interposed therebetween and exposed to the first surface and the second surface, respectively, first and second metal layers covering the first surface and the second surface and connected to the first and second internal electrodes, respectively, first and second ceramic layers covering the first and second metal layers, and first and second external electrodes covering the first and second ceramic layers and connected to the first and second metal layers to be electrically connected to the first and second internal electrodes, respectively.

The corners of the cover portions of the body include curved surfaces, a length of each of internal electrodes disposed in the cover portions among the plurality of internal electrodes is smaller than a length of an internal electrode disposed in a central portion, and when a distance from a surface of the body to a closest internal electrode among the plurality of internal electrodes is defined as a margin, a portion of the margin region, located directly above or below the internal electrodes disposed in the cover portions in the stacking direction, includes at least two layers including different densities of dielectric layers.

Multilayer capacitor

A multilayer ceramic capacitor has a body including first and second internal electrodes laminated with a dielectric layer interposed therebetween, and having fifth and sixth surfaces opposing each other, third and fourth surfaces opposing each other, and first and second surfaces opposing each other. A first through-electrode penetrates through the body to be connected to the first internal electrode, and a second through-electrode penetrates through the body to be connected to the second internal electrode. First and second external electrodes are disposed on the first and second surfaces, respectively, and third and fourth external electrodes are disposed on the first and second surfaces, respectively, to be spaced apart from the first and second external electrodes. Each of the first to fourth external electrodes is a respective sintered electrode including nickel.

A method of manufacturing a multilayer ceramic electronic component which includes preparing first and second ceramic green sheets; forming an internal electrode pattern on the first ceramic green sheet using a conductive metal paste; forming a ceramic member on first and second end portions of a first surface of the second ceramic green sheet to form a step portion absorption layer; stacking two or more of the first ceramic green sheets on each other in a stacking direction to form a first group; stacking two or more of the first ceramic green sheets on each other in the stacking direction to form a second group; and placing the second ceramic green sheet between the first group and the second group in the stacking direction to form a ceramic body, wherein the first and second end portions oppose each other in a first direction perpendicular to the stacking direction.

Method of manufacturing a multilayer ceramic electronic component with improved withstand voltage characteristics
