A system and method for transmitting/receiving a multicast/broadcast signal in a communication system are provided, in which if the communication system includes at least one zone to which the same service is provided and the zone includes at least one ASN_GW and at least one BS connected to the ASN_GW, the ASN_GW generates a second multicast/broadcast signal using a received first multicast/broadcast signal according to information about the zone, generates time information indicating a time when the BS is to transmit the second multicast/broadcast signal, and transmits the second multicast/broadcast signal and the time information to the BS.

Provided are an apparatus and method for providing VoIP service based on an IP multimedia subsystem (IMS). When a MS is located indoors, it accesses the IMS through a VoIP gateway. When the MS is located outdoors, it accesses the IMS through an IEEE 802.16 system. Therefore, the VoIP service can be provided over one telephone number allocated to the MS.

A handover method in a wireless communication system is disclosed. A serving base station transmits a handover request message to a base station controller in response to a handover request of a mobile station. The base station controller determines target base stations to which the mobile station can perform handover among target base stations in a list of neighbor base stations, and transmits a handover response message including the determination result information to the mobile station via the serving base station. The mobile station determines a target base station to which it will perform handover, and transmits a message indicating that it will perform handover, to the base station controller via the serving base station. The base station controller transmits a confirm message indicating that the mobile station will perform handover, to the determined target base station, and establishes a tunnel to the target base station. The mobile station registers itself in the target base station.

Handover method in a wireless communication system

A method is provided for controlling uplink data traffic in a wireless communication system. If Internet Protocol (IP) packets are received from a higher layer, one or more medium access control service data units (MAC SDUs) are generated in units of sub-blocks. A modified packing sub-header (PSH) used for distinguishing between the MAC SDUs is added to the generated MAC SDUs. MAC SDUs having the same connection identifier (CID) among the modified PSH-added MAC SDUs are grouped. A modified MAC header (MH) used for distinguishing between the MAC SDU groups is added to generate one or more tunnel messages, and the generated tunnel messages are grouped. A tunnel frame header used for distinguishing between the tunnel messages to generate a tunnel frame is added thereto. The generated tunnel frame is transmitted to a base station.
