Adaptive display technology includes issuing one or more commands to perform a first adjustment to an output of a display to enhance visibility for a viewer of the display based on a determination that the viewer is wearing sunglasses, where the first adjustment includes adjusting one or more of a polarization of the display output, or a color of the display output based on a color of lenses in the sunglasses or a selection by the viewer, determining, after the first adjustment is performed, a second adjustment to the output of the display to further enhance visibility for the viewer, wherein the second adjustment includes adjusting one or more of a brightness of the display output or a contrast of the display output, and issuing one or more commands to perform the second adjustment to the output of the display based on viewer feedback in relation to the second adjustment.

The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods for cooling an electric aircraft. The system comprises an electronic device, a casing, a fin, and at least one PHP. The casing comprises an inner surface. A PHP may be coupled to the inner surface. The fin comprises a fin interior cavity. A PHP may be embedded within the fin interior cavity. The same PHP may be both coupled to the casing inner surface and embedded within the fin interior cavity, or there may be a plurality of fins such that at least one fin is coupled to the casing inner surface and at least one fin is embedded within the fin interior cavity. The portion of the PHP closest to the electronic device comprises an evaporator section and the portion of the PHP furthest from the electronic device comprises a condenser section.

Systems and methods for cooling an electric aircraft

A radar device can be configured to provide an expanded detection field. The radar device can include a plurality of end-fire antennas. The plurality of end-fire antennas can be arranged in a fan-shaped array such that the plurality of end-fire antennas extending radially outward from a central region. Each end-fire antenna can have a transmission end oriented in a different direction than the other end-fire antennas. The plurality of end-fire antennas creating a collective detection field, which is larger than the detection field provided by any individual end-fire antenna. The radar device can be carried on a vehicle, such as an aircraft or a watercraft. For instance, the radar device can be used in connection with a helicopter, particularly when landing.

Embodiments described herein relate to an adaptable photonic apparatus including an optical neural network. The photonic apparatus includes an optical input that provides an optical signal. The photonic apparatus also includes a chassis component and an optical neural network (ONN). The chassis component includes at least one modular mounting location for receiving a modular network component. The ONN is operably connected with the optical input and is configured to perform optical processing on the optical signal according to a deep learning algorithm. The ONN includes optical components arranged into layers to form the ONN. The modular network component is an additional optical processing component that is configured to function in cooperation with the ONN to adapt the deep learning algorithm.

Embodiments for one-way sound absorbing systems are described herein. In one example, a sound absorbing system includes a waveguide having open ends for receiving an incoming acoustic wave and wall portions defining a first port and a second port. A first electroacoustic absorber is mounted to the first port and is electrically connected to a shunting circuit, while a second electroacoustic absorber is mounted to the second port and is electrically connected to an open circuit. The sound absorption of the system is directional dependent.

Embodiments of a vehicular radar system are presented herein. One embodiment comprises a first circuitry layer including a first radar subsystem for a first frequency band, the first radar subsystem including a first end-fire antenna. The vehicular radar system also includes a second circuitry layer stacked on or under the first circuitry layer, the second circuitry layer including a second radar subsystem for a second frequency band, the second radar subsystem including a second end-fire antenna. In this embodiment, one or more components of the vehicular radar system are shared between the first and second radar subsystems.

System, methods, and other embodiments described herein relate to scanning a surrounding environment of a vehicle by radar during automated driving. In one embodiment, a method includes detecting an object by using a three-dimensional beam formed by a layered array of end-fire antennas. The method also includes scanning the object by using a fine three-dimensional beam formed by a section of the layered array of end-fire antennas. The method also includes tracking the object by using the fine three-dimensional beam.

A system is provided for actively mitigating noise caused by vibration of a thin vehicle front windshield in an occupant compartment of a vehicle. The system includes a pair of laser scanners configured to be mountable inside the vehicle occupant compartment. A system for actively mitigating a buffeting noise in an occupant compartment of a vehicle when the vehicle is moving. The system is configured to determine an estimated effective volume of the occupant compartment, and to determine if a single window of the vehicle occupant compartment is open. Responsive to a determination that a single window of the vehicle occupant compartment is open, and using the estimated effective volume of the occupant compartment, an estimated buffeting noise frequency is determined. Responsive to the estimated buffeting noise frequency, the system determines characteristics of a sound configured to cancel a buffeting noise generated inside the occupant compartment while the vehicle is moving. The system may then control operation of a noise cancelling signal generating system to generate the sound having characteristics configured to cancel the buffeting noise inside the occupant compartment.
