An electron emission source-forming composition includes a carbon-based material; a vehicle composed of a resin component and a solvent component; and at least one metal oxide with an average particle diameter in a range of 100 to 1,000 nm selected from AlO, TiO, and SiO. The electron emission source-forming composition is sintered under an air atmosphere during electron emission source formation. Therefore, carbon deposits after sintering and degradation of Carbon Nano-Tubes (CNTs) upon sintering can be remarkably reduced. As a result, the electron emission source formed using the composition has a high current density and the electron emission device using the electron emission source exhibits enhanced reliability.

An electron emission display that can mitigate or prevent problems of an arc discharge and a wire disconnection due to increases in resistance at portions where a sealing member contacts electrodes includes: an electron emission device on which upper surfaces of electrodes are exposed, a front panel that is disposed in front of the electron emission device, the front panel being of a phosphor material, and a sealing member that seals a space formed by the electron emission device and the front panel by being disposed on the edges of the space in contact with the electrodes. The electrodes are formed on an entire surface of the electron emission device with a narrow width at an end portion of the electron emission device where the electrodes are connected to an external power source, and the sealing member contacts the electrodes closer to the space than end portions of the electrodes where the width of the electrodes is narrowed.

Provided is a method of manufacturing an electron emission device. The method includes: forming electron emission sources including a carbon-based material; and emitting electrons from the electron emission sources in a chamber containing a gas. Accordingly, an electron emission display device employing the electron emission device can improve uniformity between pixels and increase device lifespan.

An electron emission display device comprises: a front panel which includes a front substrate, an anode electrode formed on a surface of the front substrate, and a fluorescent layer; a rear panel which includes a rear substrate disposed facing the front substrate at a predetermined distance, electron emitters formed on the rear substrate, and at least one driving electrode that controls the emission of electrons from the electron emitters; a sealing member which seals the front and rear panels; and at least one dielectric layer included in the sealing member and having a dielectric constant less than that of the sealing member.

An electron emission device includes a cathode substrate and an anode substrate facing each other that are separated from each other by a predetermined distance to form a vacuum vessel. An electron emission unit is disposed on the cathode substrate to emit electrons, and a light emission unit is disposed on the anode substrate to emit light caused by the electrons for displaying desired images. In more detail, a gate electrode is arranged on the cathode substrate to correspond to the center of a pixel area of the electron emission device, a cathode electrode is arranged on an outer portion of the gate electrode while insulated from the gate electrode, and an electron emission region is arranged on the cathode electrode.

A field emission display device includes: a first substrate; an electron emission assembly arranged on the first substrate; a second substrate arranged a predetermined distance from the first substrate, the first and second substrates forming a vacuum space; an illumination assembly arranged on the second substrate, the illumination assembly being illuminated by electrons emitted from the electron emission assembly; and a mesh grid and above the electron emission assembly.
