A data communications system comprises a bus for transferring data, a plurality of devices sharing the bus by time-division multiplexing, wherein time is divided into time slots and a frame is assembled with a predetermined number of time slots, a processor for assigning to each of the devices time slots and for multiplexing data to be transferred to each of the devices into a data frame TXD and demultiplexing a data frame RXD including data transferred from each of the devices, wherein data transmission between the processor and each of the devices is performed during the time slots assigned to each of the devices, and an interfacing module, coupled with the processor and each of the devices, for multiplexing data transmitted from each of the devices to transfer to the processor.

Data communication system using a time slot interface architecture

An apparatus generates a set of a reference clock pulse and a reference frame pulse signals (RCPS and RFPS) for use in an access subsystem processor of an electronic switching system. At first, a set of a clock pulse and a frame pulse signals (CPS and FPS) generated from a processor associated with the apparatus is received and converted into a converted set of a RCPS and a RFPS. Next, a functional fail signal is obtained based on processor and signal status information from the link processor. Finally, the converted set of the RCPS and the RFPS, converted sets of RCPS's and RFPS's issued by the remainder of N local data link processors in each link module and converted sets of RCPS's and RFPS's from the subsystem processor are received and processed to generate a predetermined converted set of a RCPS and a RFPS as the set of the RCPS and the RFPS at an initial time regardless of the functional fail signal, and select one of the converted sets of the RCPS's and the RFPS's after the initial time in response to the functional fail signal to thereby provide the selected converted set of the RCPS and the RFPS as the set of the RCPS and the RFPS.

A matrix time switch apparatus for use in a small capacity switching system comprises a matrix having N.times.N voice memories, N being a positive integer greater than 1, wherein each voice memory in each row of the matrix is attached to a corresponding time switch unit in a first group to simultaneously store subscriber data from the corresponding time switch unit in the first group and each voice memory in each column of the matrix is attached to a corresponding time switch unit in a second group to transmit the subscriber data retrieved from each voice memory in each column to the corresponding time switch unit in the second group, and a set of N control memories, wherein each control memory controls the transmission of the subscriber data retrieved in a voice memory selected in the column.

A novel system includes a first interfacing unit connected to a sending subscriber for converting analog subscriber information transmitted from the sending subscriber via a first subscriber line to digital subscriber information to provide it to a first transmission line; a second interfacing unit connected to its corresponding receiving subscriber for reconverting the digital subscriber information on the first transmission line to the original analog subscriber information to transmit the same to the corresponding receiving subscriber via a second subscriber line; a switching module coupled between the first and the second interfacing units for switching the digital subscriber information on the first transmission line to the second interfacing unit; and a testing unit connected to the switching module, if the remaining components within the system excepting the first and the second subscriber interfacing units are all normal, for testing the status of each of a set of subscriber components to provide information representing the status thereof wherein the set of subscriber components includes the first and the second subscriber interfacing units, and the first and the second subscriber lines.

Electronic switching system for testing the status of subscriber

An apparatus controls the operation mode of a time division switching device selected from two incorporated in an electronic switching system for reliability thereof. Mode information representing previous operation modes of the two time switching devices is received and processed to issue a first and a second mode control signals. Thereafter, status of each component in the selected switching device and a power from a power supply in the unselected switching device are analyzed to produce each component status information and power status information. Next, an initial duplexing control signal is obtained based on each component status information, the first and the second mode control signals, and the power status information. Finally, a duplexing control signal is derived based on each component status information, the mode information, the power status information, the initial duplexing control signal, and each component status information from the unselected switching device, to provide the generated duplexing control signal to the selected switching device, thereby controlling the operation mode thereof to operate in an active or inactive mode.
