A display device includes a display panel having an upper surface and being configured to display an image, a mold frame configured to receive the display panel, and a lower receiving member having an inner wall disposed on a peripheral area thereof and being configured to receive mold frame and the display panel. The mold frame includes a peripheral area disposed around an open portion of the mold frame, and a side wall disposed in the peripheral area. The side wall of the mold frame is connected to the inner wall of the lower receiving member, and the panel supporter of the mold frame is disposed on the upper surface of the display panel to support the display panel.

Display device and method of assembling the same

One or more embodiments of a backlight assembly include a light guide plate (LGP), a light source module and an optical sheet. The LGP includes a side surface and an upper surface. The light source module includes a power-transmitting member and a plurality of point light sources disposed on the power-transmitting member. A side portion of the power-transmitting member is disposed on a peripheral portion of the upper surface adjacent to the side surface and a light-exiting surface of the point light sources facing the side surface to be adjacent to the side surface. The optical sheet is disposed on the upper surface. A portion of the optical sheet is disposed between a corner portion of the upper surface and the power-transmitting member adjacent to the light-exiting surface. The amount of the light absorbed by a reflective member may be decreased to improve the efficiency of the light.

Backlight assembly and display device having the same

A light guiding plate to enhance uniformity of brightness and a backlight assembly and a display device having the same in one or more embodiments. In one embodiment, the light guiding plate includes a plurality of the linear shaped prisms on a back surface thereof, and the linear shaped prisms are omitted partially at the incident portion of the light guiding plate such that a non-prism area, connection area, and prism area are formed in stated order from the incident portion end on the back surface of the light guiding plate. Therefore, the display device having the light guiding plate is adapted to increase a uniformity of brightness of the edge type backlight, and the display quality can be improved.

A backlight assembly includes a light source, a light-guide plate, a mold frame and a bottom chassis. The mold frame includes a first bottom portion, a protrusion on a first surface of the first bottom portion and a first sidewall portion on a second surface of the first bottom portion opposite to the first surface of the first bottom portion and facing the light guide plate. The bottom chassis includes a second bottom portion having a hole to receive the protrusion of the first bottom portion, and a second sidewall portion facing the light guide plate. A cross sectional area of a first opening of the hole corresponding to an inner surface of the bottom chassis and contacting the first surface of mold frame is different than a cross sectional area of a second opening of the hole corresponding to an outer surface of the bottom chassis.

Backlight assembly and display apparatus having the same

A liquid crystal display ('LCD') module includes an LCD panel, a light source unit, a mold frame, a bottom chassis and a driving circuit substrate. The light source unit supplies light to the LCD panel. The mold frame includes a bottom part and sidewall part, and receives the LCD panel and the light source unit. The bottom chassis covers the mold frame and includes a first opening. The driving circuit substrate is disposed between the mold frame and the bottom chassis, and includes a circuit component. The circuit component is formed corresponding to the first opening.

Liquid crystal display module

A light guide unit for a point light source includes a light incident portion, a first reflecting portion and a second reflecting portion. The light emitted from the point light source enters to the light incident portion. The light incident portion includes an optical pattern diffusing an incident light corresponding to the point light source. The first reflecting portion reflects a first light of the incident light. The second reflecting portion roundly connects the first reflecting portion to the light incident portion and reflects a second light of the incident light.

A backlight assembly includes a light source providing light, a mold frame receiving the light source unit and a bottom chassis. The bottom chassis includes a bottom plate, sidewalls extending from the bottom plate and an extension part bent from at least one of the sidewalls and overlapping an adjacent sidewall. The mold frame and the bottom chassis are integrally formed. The extension part overlaps the adjacent sidewall at a corner of the bottom chassis. Thus, the torsional strength of the bottom chassis and a backlight assembly having the bottom chassis is improved. The torsional strength is maintained when a backlight assembly is manufactured.

A light-guide plate includes a body for guiding incident light, and at least an inserting portion penetrating a portion of the body, wherein at least a light source for providing the light-guide plate with the light is inserted into the inserting portion. The inserting portion can be formed at an end portion of the body. A side surface of the body can be recessed to form the inserting portion. A light-diffusing pattern can be formed at a side surface of the inserting portion, and the side surface of the inserting portion is substantially parallel with the side surface of the body.
