A fuel cell includes a cell unit and a manifold capable of collecting electric current. The cell unit includes a tube support composed of a conductive material, a unit cell laminated on an outer surface of the tube support, and a current collection layer laminated on an outer surface of the unit cell. The manifold includes an inner tube supplying gas into and electrically connected with the tube support, and an outer tube provided outside the inner tube and electrically connected with the current collection layer. By the provision of a current-collectable manifold, a separate metal form or metal wire for current collection is not required.

Disclosed is a structure of a solid oxide fuel cell, including a porous tubular anode support having a plurality of through holes, and an electrolyte layer and a cathode layer sequentially formed on the inner surface of the tubular anode support, so that fuel flows via the plurality of through holes and air flows through the inside of the cathode layer, thus increasing a diffusion rate of fuel and air to thereby increase the reaction rate, resulting in excellent cell performance. This structure eliminates the flow of fuel and air around the outside of the fuel cell, thus preventing the formation of an oxidizing atmosphere at the inside and outside of the tubular cell, thereby increasing lifespan of the cell and ensuring cell reliability.

There is provided a hydrogen generator. The hydrogen generator including: an electrolytic bath having an inner space of a predetermined size; a cover hermetically covering an open top of the electrolytic bath and having at least one hydrogen outlet; a flexible pocket disposed in the electrolytic bath and filled with an electrolyte of a predetermined amount; an electrode part fixed to the cover, and immersed in the electrolyte filled in the flexible pocket to electrolyze the electrolyte upon application of power; and a power supply supplying current to the electrode part. In the hydrogen generator, the electrode part and the electrolyte maintains a substantially constant contact area there between, thereby allowing hydrogen to be generated constantly and stably.

A high capacity micro fuel cell system for supplying power to a portable device. A fuel supply includes a fuel inlet formed at one side of a substrate and a gas outlet formed at the other side of the substrate. A pair of cell units are disposed at opposed sides of the substrate of the fuel supply, and each of the cell units includes catalyst layers and an electrolyte layer between the catalyst layers to generate current with fuel. Outer substrates are disposed at outer sides of the cell units, each of the substrates having through holes formed therein to define at least one oxygen supply for supplying oxygen to the electrolyte layers of the cell units. A holder integrally assembles the fuel supply, the cell units and the oxygen supply. The fuel cell system supplies high-capacity power to power supplies of portable electronic devices and can be mass-produced at low costs.

The catalyst is filled in the micro channel using water, and unidirectional pressure is applied to the catalyst in the micro channel to fill the micro channel with high density. A thin type reforming apparatus used for a fuel cell is provided. In the thin type reforming apparatus, a substrate has a passage formed therein, and a fuel inlet introduces fuel to the passage. An evaporator is disposed within the substrate downstream of the fuel inlet, and includes a bubble remover for imparting a flow resistance to the fuel in a liquid state, removing bubbles and vaporizing the fuel. A reformer has a passage formed downstream of the evaporator, and reforms the fuel to hydrogen gas through a heat absorbing reaction. A CO remover has a passage formed downstream of the reformer and removes CO gas included in the hydrogen gas through a heat radiating reaction. A cover covers an upper portion of the substrate and sealing the passages from an outside.

Thin type micro reforming apparatus

The invention relates to a thin micro reforming apparatus used in a fuel cell system with decreased back pressure in an evaporator thereof. In the reforming apparatus, a substrate has a flow path therein and a fuel inlet portion for introducing fuel into the flow path of the substrate. An evaporator includes a gas expansion part which gasifies the liquid fuel and a back pressure accommodation part which accommodates back pressure during the gasification to block the influence of the back pressure to the fuel inlet portion. A reformer has a flow path formed downstream of the evaporator, reforming fuel into hydrogen gas via heat absorption reaction. A CO remover has a flow path formed downstream of the reformer, removing CO gas contained in the hydrogen gas via heat generation reaction. A cover is attached to an upper part of the substrate to seal the substrate from the external environment.
