It is disclosed that there is a method and an apparatus for driving a plasma display panel that is adaptive for improving brightness as well as realizing a high resolution. Accordingly, by using the Penning gas of four gases, this case can satisfy a longer life time, a lower discharge starting voltage, a higher luminance, and an improved color purity in comparison to a CRT display on the same time, thereby allowing realization of a next generation wall mounting large sized display.
