A method of manufacturing a bubble-jet type ink jet printhead. The method includes forming resistive heater elements on a substrate, forming a patterned electrode layer on the resultant structure, forming an insulating layer over the resultant structure, forming barrier walls on the resultant structure and attaching a nozzle plate on the resultant structure. The method may further include etching a hole in the insulating layer, forming a second electrode layer over the etched insulating layer to contact the resistive heater elements and forming a second insulating layer thereon, where the barrier walls and then the nozzle plate are formed on top of the second insulating layer. The barrier walls group together resistive heater elements in pairs and form barriers between different pairs of resistive heater elements.

Method of manufacturing a bubble-jet type ink-jet printhead

A bubble-jet type ink jet printhead and manufacturing method thereof are provided. In the printhead, a manifold for supplying ink and a concave ink chamber is integrated with a substrate by being recessed from the same surface of the substrate, and a nozzle palate on the substrate in which a nozzle is formed and a round-shaped heater surrounding the nozzle are integrated without a complex process such as bonding. Thus, this simplifies the manufacturing procedure and facilitates high volume production. Furthermore, the round-shaped heater forms a doughnut-shaped bubble to eject ink, thereby preventing a back flow of ink as well as formation of satellite droplets which may degrade image resolution.

Bubble-jet type ink-jet print head and manufacturing method thereof

A manufacturing process in which a plurality of fluid jetting apparatuses are formed includes forming and sequentially adhering a heat driving part, a membrane and a nozzle part, respectively. The fluid jetting apparatuses are completed as a wafer unit by forming the nozzle part by forming a nozzle plate on a substrate of a wafer by a spinning process; forming jetting fluid barriers on the nozzle plate by the spinning process; forming jetting fluid chambers in the jetting fluid barriers; forming nozzles in the nozzle plate; and separating the substrate from the nozzle plate after the nozzle part and the membrane are adhered to each other. The forming jetting fluid chambers is accomplished by a process of wet etching, and the forming nozzles is accomplished by a treating apparatus of a laser beam or by a process of reactive ion etching.

Process of manufacturing fluid jetting apparatuses

A bubble-jet type ink-jet printhead is provided. When forming a doughnut-shaped bubble, the printhead allows bubbles to be first grown around the heater that surrounds the central axis of the nozzle at regular angles followed by the formation of another bubble between the earlier formed bubbles, thereby forming a larger doughnut-shaped bubble. Accordingly, this can prevent the formation of an unbalanced doughnut-shaped bubble due to variations in local resistance of the heater, which may be caused by a process error. Furthermore, the printhead allows the center of the doughnut-shaped bubble to be set on the central axis of the nozzle thus causing a droplet formed within the doughnut-shaped bubble to be ejected in a normal manner, that is, in a direction vertical to the nozzle plate.

Bubble-jet type ink-jet printhead

A bubble-jet type ink-jet printhead is provided. The ink-jet printhead includes: a substrate; a nozzle plate including a plurality of nozzles, which is separated a predetermined space from the substrate; walls for closing the space between the substrate and the nozzle plate and then forming a common chamber between the substrate and the nozzle plate; a plurality of resistive layers, formed on the substrate within the common chamber corresponding to the plurality of nozzles, each resistive layer encircling the central axis passing through the center of each nozzle; a plurality of pairs of wiring layers formed on the substrate, each pair of wiring layers being connecting to each resistive layer and extending to the outside of the common chamber; and a plurality of pads which are disposed at the outside of the common chamber on the substrate and electrically connected to the wiring layers. The printhead is constructed such that the space between the nozzle plate and the substrate forms a common chamber and there is no ink channel having a complicated structure, thereby significantly suppressing clogging of nozzles by foreign materials or solidified ink. The printhead is easy to design and manufacture due to its simple structure, thereby significantly reducing the manufacturing cost. In particular, its simple structure permits flexibility in selecting a wide range of alternative designs and thus patterns in which the nozzles are arranged. Furthermore, the printhead can be manufactured by a fabrication process for a typical semiconductor device, thereby facilitating high volume production.

A bubble-jet type ink-jet printhead is provided. The bubble-jet type ink-jet printhead includes a substrate, a plurality of chamber walls arranged parallel to one another on the substrate for dividing a chamber into a plurality unit chambers having a predetermined height, which are ink flow areas, a bubble generating means, provided for each unit chamber, which includes two unit heaters spaced apart by a predetermined distance on the substrate, and a nozzle plate, combined above the substrate, in which a plurality of nozzles are formed, each nozzle corresponding to a region between the two unit heaters of each bubble generating means. In this case, ink is supplied from both sides of the unit chamber. The ink-jet printhead is constructed such that a unit chamber is provided for each nozzle and bubbles are generated chamber on both sides of a nozzle within the unit chamber, thereby effectively preventing a back flow of ink while facilitating adjustment of the size of ink droplet ejected through the nozzle. Furthermore, the ink-jet printhead allows for high-speed and high-pressure ink ejection with relatively low pressure compared to a conventional printhead. In particular, an ink channel having a simple structure is provided, thereby avoiding the clogging of the ink channel due to foreign materials while effectively preventing defectiveness of the printhead.

An ink cartridge for an ink jet printer includes an ink storing portion for containing ink and a head for ejecting droplets of the ink stored in the ink storing portion. The ink storing portion includes a chamber filed with ink in a liquid state, a negative pressure maintaining apparatus for maintaining the pressure of the inside of the chamber to be negative, and a uniform supply guide apparatus, installed between the chamber and the head, for guiding the ink in the chamber to be uniformly supplied to the head. Thus, since the ink is used by being stored in a liquid state, most of the amount of the stored ink can be used for printing, so that the efficiency in use can be improved much.

Ink cartridge for ink jet printer

A heater of a bubble-jet type ink jet printhead enabling gray scale and manufacturing method thereof are provided. The heater includes two or more heating elements arranged concentrically around a nozzle. Each of the heating elements is formed in polygonal or annular shape and spaced apart by a different distance from the center of the nozzle. Each heating element is coupled to an electrode for applying heater drive power independently. Thus, the heater drive power is applied to each electrode selectively or in combination, thereby forming bubbles having different volumes.

Heater of bubble-jet type ink-jet printhead for gray scale printing and manufacturing method thereof

A novel structure for a bubble-jet type ink-jet printhead is provided. A substrate is covered with a nozzle plate perforated by a predetermined number of nozzle holes a predetermined distance from said nozzle plate. The structure is surrounded by walls, within which form a common ink chamber. Each nozzle hole has, on the substrate underneath, a set of resistive elements. One of the resistive elements encircles an edge of a nozzle hole while another lyes directly underneath the perforation. During operation of the printhead, the encircling elements form a doughnut-shaped bubble forming an imaginary or virtual chamber within the doughnut from the rest of the common chamber. After formation of the doughnut-shaped bubble, the resister underneath the perforation forms a big bubble which causes ink to be ejected through the nozzle hole. The structure that allows for the above is easy to manufacture, and produces high quality print.

Bubble-jet type ink-jet printhead with double heater

There is provided an inkjet print head including: a substrate; a nozzle plate which forms a space where ink is to be filled between the substrate and the nozzle plate and on which plural orifices for ejecting ink are formed; and heaters which form bubbles to push ink droplets out through the orifices, wherein the heaters are installed on elevation parts elevated from the substrate and inserted into the orifices. According to such a structure, since the orifices for ejecting ink droplets, themselves, act as partition members against adjacent heaters, the structure can be greatly simplified. It becomes possible to control the ejection of ink droplets precisely because there is little possibility that reverse flow occurs when bubbles are expanded.

Inkjet print head

An ink jet printer head and method for discharging ink in an ink chamber through a nozzle hole by a fluid pressure of air. The ink jet printer head having a fluid chamber defined on or in a side of a silicon plate to be charged with a fluid, such as air, and a through-hole which communicates with an ink chamber. The ink jet printer head opens the through-hole by operating a piezo-actuator, pressures ink in the ink chamber, and pushes a tail of the ink during ink discharge. Accordingly, uniform shapes of ink droplets can be obtained resulting in a high resolution print.

Ink jet printer head and method for discharging ink from an ink jet printer head using a fluid pressure

An ink flow path of improved structure in an ink jet printer head includes a first ink channel formed at a right angle to an ink supply path in parallel relation with an ink chamber, a second ink channel formed at a right angle to the first ink channel in parallel relation with the ink supply path across the ink chamber, and a third ink channel connecting the second ink channel to a rear side of the ink chamber of which front side faces the ink supply path. Accordingly, a backflow of ink is prevented during the ink discharge through a nozzle hole, thus print quality is improved.

Ink jet printer head

An ink jet printer head having nozzles, actuators, a multiplexer, and actuator finding circuits of a matrix method. The multiplexer is capable of single-input and multiple output. The actuator finding circuits of the inkjet printer head include electronic switches arranged in rows and columns. The nozzles have the actuators, and the actuators are controlled by the electronic switches. The multiplexer receives a signal in accordance with the conveyance direction and position of the ink jet printer head, and sequentially outputs the signal to the actuator finding circuits in accordance with the signal it received, thereby sequentially selecting a nozzle group in the rows. In this situation, when an external print data signal is inputted to the actuator finding circuits to select a nozzle group in the columns, the corresponding electronic switch drives the actuator, so that the ink is ejected out of the nozzle. Accordingly, by using the multiplexer having only one external input terminal, the increment of the number of pads is decreased when the number of ink jet printer head nozzles is increased.

A bubble-jet type ink-jet printing head is provided. The ink-jet printing head includes a nozzle plate in which a plurality of nozzles, through which ink is ejected, are formed, a substrate for supporting the nozzle plate, on which a plurality of heaters having three-dimensionally concave surfaces oppose the plurality of nozzles, respectively, electrodes which are formed on the top surface of the substrate and electrically coupled to each heater so as to apply current to the heater, a plurality of ink chambers which are formed between the bottom of the nozzle plate and the surfaces of the corresponding heaters and filled with ink, and an ink feed channel, formed between the nozzle plate and the substrate so as to connect with the ink chambers, for supplying ink to the ink chambers. Each heater includes a hemispherical member and a flange disposed along the rim of the hemispherical member. The ink feed channel connects with the entire circumference of each ink chamber. Accordingly, expansion energy of a bubble formed on the surface of the heater is concentrated toward the nozzle thereby improving a energy efficiency, and a back flow of ink is prevented by the bubble formed on the flange of the heater. Furthermore, ink can quickly refills the ink chamber after ejection of an ink droplet, thereby further increasing the ejection driving frequency.
