Provided is a method and apparatus for managing sensor data by determining an appropriate sensor data collection cycle for each service in view of a weighting such as an amount of energy saved by data collection cycles, a data storage space and data processing time, and a probability of an error happening, and collecting and manage sensor data based on the sensor data collection cycle. The apparatus for managing the sensor data includes a profile management unit to manage a sensor profile defining each sensor, a sensor system and a characteristic of a service, a service management unit to manage a preinstalled service and to collect and recommend a service based on the sensor profile from the sensor system, and a data collection cycle determination unit to determine a necessary sensor data collection cycle for the service. Furthermore, the apparatus includes a sensor data management unit to collect sensor data based on the sensor data collection cycle and to manage the sensor data, and an interface to connect the sensor system and an external device.

Method and apparatus for managing sensor data

There is provided a method for estimating a position of a mobile node in a wireless sensor network. The method includes estimating a frequency offset between anchor nodes and estimating a difference between times when ranging frames from a mobile node are received by two anchor node, without use of a separate synchronization unit, such as a network synchronized clock supply unit that supplies a network synchronized clock via a cable, in a wireless sensor network, unlike a conventional method of estimating Time of Flight (TOF) using Two-Way Ranging (TWR) and Symmetric Double Sided-TWR (SDS-TWR) schemes. The estimated receiving time difference is directly applied to a Time Difference Of Arrival (TDOA) algorithm in order to estimate the position of the mobile node.

Method of estimating position of mobile node in wireless sensor network

The present invention relates to a method of estimating the position of a mobile node in a wireless sensor network using a passive mode OWR method. The method includes: estimating frequency offsets of anchor nodes and a mobile node; allowing the anchor nodes to sequentially transmit ranging frames; allowing the mobile node to receive the ranging frames and to estimate the difference between the reception times of signals from two anchor nodes; and applying the estimated difference between the reception times of the signals to time difference of arrival (TDOA) to estimate the position of the mobile node. According to the above-mentioned structure of the present invention, a plurality of mobile nodes can estimate their positions with a minimum number of ranging frame transmissions, without using a separate network synchronization unit. In addition, it is possible to easily construct a wireless sensor network for position recognition, and rapidly and accurately perform distance estimate using an OWR method.

A priority-based wireless USB transfer service management apparatus and method capable of preventing conflict or interference between service and minimizing waste of resources by providing optimized service supporting environment according to characteristics and media classes of various wireless USB devices are provided. In the priority-based wireless USB transfer service management apparatus and method, wireless data transmitted from wireless USB devices are integrated according to service classes, service management information is configured by identifying the wireless data according to associated protocols, services are classified based on the service management information, priorities and weighting factors are allocated according to the services, final service determination information is configured based on a user's request, and a to-be-performed service is determined based on the final service determination information, so that the determined service is controlled to be performed.

Priority-based wireless USB transfer service management apparatus and method thereof

Provided is an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) apparatus using a 3-dimensional (3D) signal constellation. A LAN/USB bridge apparatus is provided. The LAN/USB bridge apparatus includes a wireless LAN/USB signal processor and a controller. The wireless LAN/USB signal processor receives a wireless LAN signal transmitted from a wireless LAN access point performing a bridging function between a wired LAN and a wireless LAN, transforms the received wireless LAN signal a UWB (ultra wide band) signal, and transmits the UWB signal to at least one of wireless USB apparatuses. Provided is an intelligent management apparatus and method of a digital home network system. The intelligent management apparatus includes: a context aware portion for extracting context aware information from sensing data, generating context information, history information and object information based on the context aware information, and generating context priority information based on the context information when at least two contexts conflict with each other; an information directory for storing the context information, the history information, the object information, the context priority information; a service determining portion for detecting events based on the context aware information, reasoning services corresponding to the events based on the information stored in the information directory, and outputting reasoned service information; and a service control portion for determining a service priority of services to be executed based on the reasoned service information and controlling drive of devices corresponding to the respective services according to the determined service priority. The intelligent management apparatus and method of the digital home network system prevent a collision between the context information and services which may happen during operation of the digital home network system and minimize user's intervention.

A wireless USB host apparatus supporting UWB is disclosed. The wireless USB host apparatus allocates a Media Access Slot of USB super frame to each of a plurality of wireless USB devices to transmit the real-time audio/video data as well as command data, control data and non real-time data through a single transmission channel. Also, the wireless USB host apparatus uses the ultra wide band to exchange data with the plurality of wireless USB devices to support the data transfer rate of about 53.3 to 480 Mbps, guarantees the QoS and supports transmission of the real-time audio/video data.

Apparatus and method for supporting quality of service in Ethernet passive optical network system

A bandwidth allocation device and a dynamic bandwidth allocation method are provided for differentiated classes of service in an Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON), which includes an optical line termination (OLT), an optical distribution network (ODN), and a plurality of optical network units (ONUs). The OLT includes a Multi-Point Control Protocol (MPCP) allocator, which includes a class-based queue state counter and a grant generator. The ONU includes an MPCP requester, which includes a class-based buffer counter and a request generator. The device and the method enable efficient utilization of network resources using class-based grant allocation.
